Weezer’s video for the new single ‘Troublemaker’ was released to day, and with it official Guinness World Records were broken. In the video, we get a taste of the world’s largest custard pie fight, the most people riding on a skateboard, the biggest air guitar session and some other things that the band found necessary to complete their musical vision. Check the press release of the records:

Weezer’s going on tour to celebrate their kinda-still-shiny-new album which people are just calling The Red Album because it’s quite plainly red in color. Opening for Weezer’s tour are Angels and Airwaves and Tokyo Police Club. Tokyo Police Club were the only thing that kept me in this one stupid bar in Austin during SXSW. They were awesome. The two bartenders upping the price of my drink every time I ordered were not. Synthesis has a ton of Angels and Airwaves content. Like this interview with Videomatt. And another interview in the free MacBeth Ditigal Mag. And now, I give you Weezer Tour Dates:

Weezer, you get me! I heart Internet fame.

I just listened to Weezer’s new single, “Pork and Beans,” as it’s streaming from their website. It certainly has a catchy chorus, reminiscent of the good old days, but the verse schemes and lyrics remind me of “Beverly Hills,” which, in my opinion, was the worst Weezer single ever released. Far too many similarities to Avril Lavigne. I’ll keep hope alive for the new record, but I don’t know. They haven’t put anything out worthwhile since the Green album. Fingers crossed…

Weezer’s third self-titled record (known as the “red” album, following suit with 1994’s “blue” and 2001’s “green” albums) was set to be released this July, but has been pushed up a month, most likely to thwart pirates. Here’s the release:
The streets can’t wait any longer: Buoyed by a single which reached #1 at Modern Rock radio a mere eleven days after its release to the format, and a tidal wave of buzz, Weezer’s new, self-titled album on DGC/Interscope Records has had its release date moved up three weeks to June 3.
The latest single “Pork and Beans” produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, R.E.M.) has been embraced by Modern Rock radio making it the quickest journey to #1 that any Weezer single has found in its illustrious history. The single has earned rave reviews in the UK’s NME and Rolling Stone.
The new album which is the third eponymous in the band’s catalogue and is being referred as “The Red Album,” was produced by the band, Rick Rubin, and the aforementioned Lee.
