Set Your Goals “Echoes” Video

I don’t know if this is indicative of all their songs, but after checking out the “Echoes” video, Set Your Goals is okay in my book. I usually don’t listen to this sort of thing, because I don’t wear eyeliner, but I do like the fact that the band isn’t afraid to be pop-y. They holler out shitty harmonies like no one’s business, and they just don’t give a fuck. Best of all, there’s no misguided metal influence in this song, and that’s refreshing, because the only thing worse than something not being metal is something pretending to be.

Set Your Goals is a part of the Bamboozle Roadshow 2K8 and will also be playing every date on this year’s Warped Tour. They even played Synthesis’s hometown of Chico recently, and we got some video of it. If you’re planning on stalking the band this spring and summer, their full itinerary is after the jump. (more…)

  • EL BRONX

Here’s some news that most of us (if you’re a fan of The Bronx) (and really, who isn’t?) (I mean, come on…its The BRONX) should know already:

The band has been planning on releasing two, count them, TWO records this year. One is more than likely gonna melt your face and beat your eardrums within an inch of your life (see albums The Bronx and The Bronx II for evidence of my hypothesis) and will probably be accompanied by some pretty insane videos (God DAMN I love their videos, links below…).

The other record is gonna be straight up mariachi. The band is bringing in two more musicians for the recording process on this particular album. Interestingly, with the addition of these members there are now three members of The Bronx who are sons of members of Los Lobos. Mariachi cred? I don’t know. I’ve never listened to Los Lobos, but it sounds like it could be accurate.

In the first major update to their Web site in quite some time, the band explained:

Today we start packing it in to the studio to begin work on 1 of 2 records. The first of which will be our mariachi record. 11 stellar tracks - highlights include “qualude quesadilla” & “if you build it, we will paint it.

    They went on to say:

4 weeks later we pack it back up and move into our own studio that our kick ass record label got us. Big game lodge. To record 11 blast punk tracks. Both records should be released this summer worldwide. Double vinyl of both albums to follow. We are gonna try and do a studio blog or something. But we will prolly never get around to it, and blogs suck anyway.

    DOUBLE VINYL?! Jesus Christ. Rad.

History’s Stranglers - Bunch of little badass kids rocking out
White Guilt - Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny get in a fight
They Will Kill Us All (Without Mercy) - Gangbanga roughin’ up LA
False Alarm - The band superimposed in an old horror film
Shitty Future - Live rocking out

One last thing: The Bronx remains the ONLY reason to go to the Warped Tour this year. Period. They don’t fuck around live.
