When our good friends Emery recently announced they were ending their run with Switchfoot and Athlete on the TWLOHA-sponsored Up In Arms Tour a few weeks early, internet naysayers had the rumor mill working overtime. But the band put all rumors as to their demise to rest today with the announcement that they will be joining up with longtime musical cohort Aaron Gillespie on his last tour with The Almost before devoting his attention to Underoath full time for awhile. Here’s the announcement:

We are extremely excited to announce that we will be joining The Almost for their US tour in May and June. We’ve known Aaron for some time, and since our 2007 Australian tour with Underoath was such a good time, we know we had to go out with him again. We will be joined on this tour by Envy on the Coast and Army of Me. We could not be more excited about this tour. Please check back as more shows are announced. We’ll see you soon. Love - EMERY

Also joining them on this tour will be long lost Synthesis blogger Trevor Digby Sellers. Write to him on his Myspace and tell him to start putting his iPhone to use by writing some damn blogs. Tour dates after the jump:

John, that’s “Cougar” to you, Mellencamp is due out with his 23rd album on July the 15th. Title of record? Life, Death, Love and Freedom. Considering his last release was entitled Freedom Road and rode a brown water wave off the ham hock Chevy truck mega hit “Our Country,” I would have to say that Life, Death, Love and Freedom is one of the worst album names in the history of music. I don’t think Mellencamp is a bad guy; his intentions are good and he sings out against racism and the likes. But shouldn’t there be a limit to the amount of cheese on that burger, John?

The 14 year-old kid in me just dropped a load. The Stone Temple Pilots have announced a 65 city tour beginning May 17th in Columbus, OH. Now that Weiland has kicked Velvet Revolver to the gutter (where they have always belonged), count on STP tearing the house down at a city near you.

  • Linkin Park is hitting the road again for the 2008 Projekt Revolution tour which kicks off in Boston on July 16. Here’s the press release from our friend Mike Moses:

Los Angeles, CA (April 3, 2008) – Multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park has announced the much-anticipated lineup for Projekt Revolution 2008. The fifth installation of the band’s raging road show will see them headlining an all-star bill that features former Soundgarden/Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell, electro-rockers The Bravery and Ashes Divide, featuring Billy Howerdel, known for his work with A Perfect Circle. The Revolution stage will be headlined by metallic act Atreyu and features hard hitters 10 Years, fiery Ohio natives Hawthorne Heights and buzz band Armor For Sleep. Also performing will be percussive force Street Drum Corps. The tour launches July 16 at the Tweeter Center in Boston.

In keeping with the theme of revolution, Linkin Park is teaming with Live Nation and giving back to their fans by picking up the tab for the service fees normally tacked onto concert ticket prices. This precedent-setting no-service-charge limited time offer is available for artist fan club members anxious to purchase tickets to the upcoming tour. Beginning at 10AM on April 4th, fans can take advantage of Linkin Park’s special offer to cover the cost of extra fees by pre-ordering tickets at www.lpunderground.com or www.livenation.com. Tickets for select dates go on sale nationally beginning April 11th – go to www.linkinpark.com, www.projektrevolution.com or www.livenation.com for show dates and on-sale information in each area.

“As a thank you to our fan club, we’re picking up part of the tab for their tickets to this summer’s Projekt Revolution,” says Linkin Park co-frontman Mike Shinoda. “We’ll be paying the service charge on fanclub pre-sale tickets, which will save each fan roughly $8-11. Our fan club has been incredibly loyal and supportive, and we hope this gesture lets them know how much we appreciate them.”

In addition, Linkin Park is once again offering their fans the option of purchasing the Digital Souvenir Package, a groundbreaking promotion that provides concert-goers with a special post-gig memento: a live audio download and exclusive concert photos of that night’s performance by Linkin Park, as well as a digital tour program. In short, it provides a live experience that concertgoers will never forget.

Produced by Live Nation and partnered with Major League Baseball, Monster Energy Drink, Verizon Wireless and Nowwhat.com, Projekt Revolution 2008 sees Linkin Park building upon the success and excitement of previous Revolution tours, which included artists such as My Chemical Romance, Korn, Snoop Dogg, HIM, Xzibit and Mudvayne, among others.

“We started Projekt Revolution six years ago and have been lucky to have toured with some great bands,” says Linkin Park co-frontman Chester Bennington. “This year, however, might just be the best lineup yet. We’re looking forward to taking this show on the road and bringing great music to the masses.”

Last month Linkin Park took a break from their headlining tour in support of new album MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT and traveled to New Orleans to help families displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The band joined volunteers from Music for Relief, and Habitat homeowner families from New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity to build homes in the damaged Gulf Coast area. Prior to that, Linkin Park’s nonprofit organization, Music For Relief, initiated a partnership with Hollywood for Habitat For Humanity to fund and build homes in hurricane ravaged areas. Additionally, Linkin Park recently donated $1 from each ticket sold on their European & UK, U.S. & Canadian headlining dates to Music for Relief for a tree-planting initiative.

With Projekt Revolution 2008, Linkin Park continues to give back, as $1 from every ticket sold will go toward Music for Relief to support disaster relief and reduce global warming. In just over a year Music For Relief has raised over $1 million for reforestation, planting over 797,000 trees. Music For Relief endeavors to help victims recover and rebuild following natural disasters but also works to reduce global warming. During Projekt Revolution 2008, Music for Relief will continue its grassroots outreach to fans to educate them on how to reduce their own carbon emissions and how those changes can have a global effect.

  • Rockstar Mayhem Festival Is Br00tlz

I have no idea when this was announced, but the Rockstar Mayhem Fest looks pretty decent. Granted I’ll be at the beer tent for all most of the show, they managed to pull some heavy ass bands along on the same tour. Notable acts include The Red Chord, Mastodon, Machine Head, Dragonforce, Slipknot and my personal favorite, Underoath.

Still, some of the other acts are really out of place. Disturbed managed to get the direct support spot, but I guess I can’t complain too much as someone who still digs Slipknot. From the press release:

BURBANK, CA – March 17, 2008 – ROCKSTAR ENERGY MAYHEM FESTIVAL announces
today that hard-hitting metalcore band UNDEROATH will headline the HOT TOPIC STAGE at
this summer’s highly anticipated tour, set to kick off July 9th at the White River Amphitheatre in
Seattle. The much-buzzed-about tour will hit 30 cities in the U.S. and Canada between early
July and late August. A full itinerary will be announced on April 1 with the festival’s Pre Sale
commencing on April 4 and the national on sale to commence on April 19.

Underoath joins an all-star lineup that includes main stage
closer SLIPKNOT, DISTURBED, DRAGONFORCE and MASTODON and a plethora of hard
music’s most influential artists and exciting young voices. The tour will have two second
stages: Underoath will headline the HOT TOPIC STAGE and MACHINE HEAD will
headline the JAGERMEISTER stage. The second stages will also feature BLACK
TIDE, SUICIDE SILENCE, AIRBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, 36 CRAZY
FISTS, THE RED CHORD, WALLS OF JERICHO and the JAGERMEISTER Battle of The
    Bands Winner.

Tour title sponsor ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK, who will be offering product samples and
providing great surprises for attendees, will also be presenting the VIP area THE ROCKSTAR
LOUNGE where a national contest will take place, and fans can PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR in the
VIP area. Details for this special promotion will be forthcoming and can be accessed at
    www.rockstar69.com

Festival organizers have also announced that world famous freestyle motocross team METAL
MULISHA—known for its lineup of legendary riders—are joining the riotous road show,
performing three backflip-laden sets at each date in the festival area. “The Rockstar Energy
Mayhem festival combines the best bands in extreme music with the Metal Mulisha rebels,” says
freestyle Motocross legend Brian Deegan. “They’ll be mixing the sound of riffing and ripping
250CC motorcycles flying 150 feet in the air against the backdrop of double bass drums and
    shredding guitars.”

    Word.
