  • Death Cab for Cutie Announces Tour Dates

    death_cab_for_cutie_live_at_calvin_college_315x220

It turns out the rest of my incompetent coworkers aren’t as stoked on this as I am, but hey, they’re a bunch of mouth-breathing swine entitled to their opinions. Death Cab announced a slew of dates spanning across the U.S. with Ra Ra Riot as direct support. Cold War Kids will be taking over the opening act through April, then Matt Costa will be picking up for them come May. Admittedly, I’m bummed because I’ve been on a Matt Costa kick for quite a while, but I’ve heard nothing but great things about Cold War Kids’ live show. Tickets, merch, beer and drugs will be overpriced, but fuck it, It’s worth it.

    Death Cab for Cutie
    On Tour 2009
4/7-29 w/Cold War Kids and Ra Ra Riot
5/1-6 w/ Matt Costa and Ra Ra Riot
    MARCH
    7 Miami, FL Langerado Festival
    APRIL
7 Upper Darby, PA Tower Theatre
8 Washington, DC DAR Constitution Hall
9 Davidson, NC John Belk Arena/Davidson College
    10 Louisville, KY Louisville Palace
    11 Memphis, TN Orpheum Theatre
12 Tulsa, OK The Brady Theater
    13 Omaha, NE Holland Theatre
15 St. Paul, MN Roy Wilkings Auditorium
    17 Chicago, IL Aragon Ballroom
18 East Lansing, MI Breslin Events Center/Michigan State University
19 Waukesha, WI Van Male Fieldhouse/Carroll College
24 Spokane, WA McCarthey Athletic Center/Gonzaga University
25 Boise, ID The Morrison Center
    27 Sacramento, CA Memorial Auditorium
29 San Diego, CA RIMAC Arena/UC San Diego
    MAY
1 Austin, TX Austin Music Hall
2 New Orleans, LA Contemporary Arts Center
    4 Nashville, TN Ryman Auditorium
5 Birmingham, AL BJCC Concert Hall
    6 Atlanta, GA Fox Theatre

In a move of simple deductive logic, I figured this means that we won’t be seeing Death Cab, Ra Ra Riot or Cold War Kids at Coachella.

The brainchild of former Sherwood guitarist turned wandering minstrel of the West Coast, Chris Armstrong, O Vesicae and the Found Mountain also includes production genius Chris Keene of Surrogate, who is busy not making the new Surrogate record and instead recording other people and making them sound like badasses. Anyways, there are five songs up for perusal on Myspace. Check it out. Or don’t. The band currently has no tour dates, but they do have tour beards, which is half the battle.

On the heels of the rerelease of their quintessential Bleed American CD (which was retitled Jimmy Eat World shortly after 2001’s terrorist attacks for some idiotic reason) Jimmy Eat World have annouced a string of North American tour dates, which will doubtlessly feature thousands of screaming post-teens trying to relive their high school years shouting for the band to play “The Middle.” BE THERE!!!11 Maybe I can go too, and get kicked out of the photo pit and screamed at by the band’s tour manager again for “shooting flash” even though it was the dipshit college newspaper photog behind me, get manhandled by said middle-aged douchebag TM, then get in a gigantic pissing match with the band’s publicist who will take his word over mine and we can all CC as many people on our e-mails as possible and then I can wait until she quits and gets a job somewhere else to start trying to set up shit with the band again. That might be fun!

    Dates after the JUMPPPPPppppPPPPppp (more…)
