In the ongoing saga that has become Roger Clemens vs former trainer Brian McNamee, “new shit has come to light.” Clemens, who on January 6th filed a defamation suit against McNamee, is now surrounded by speculation of a decade long affair with country music artist Mindy McCready. According to McNamee’s attorney:

“When you sue for defamation, you put your whole reputation in the community at issue. Anything is fair game, including his claim of sanctimonious purity.”

Clemens will hold that McCready has been nothing more than “a close family friend.” Either way, this situation cannot play out to anything better than a game of he said/she said. The circus that surrounds Clemens seems to gain more and more dancing bears as the months pass, and you can flat forget any notion of Clemens ever going to baseball’s Hall Of Fame.

The only sensible action at this point would be for Clemens to drop the defamation case. Without such an action, Clemens’ family is going to be unfairly and mercilessly tortured by a sex hungry media.

Amy Winehouse is back in the headlines, but this time it’s nothing too scandalous, although it probably has the head honchos at Island Records pulling their hair out. Wino was set to take a trip to the Bahamas to begin recording her follow up LP to Back In Black with famed producer Saleem Remi, but backed out at the last second, according to The Sun:

“It was a very expensive trip and it was hoped they would make some decent progress recording the album. But Amy pulled out at the last minute.

The album was planned for late 2008, but her label is now privately admitting it’s unlikely to happen until 2009” The Sun.

In other news, Amy Winehouse has also reportedly developed a new addiction, ironing. The instinctively addicted Wino apparently can’t stop ironing anything she can get her hands on, smoothing out everything from towels to scarves and sheets. I guess we should be thankful that this time around Wino can get her fix without the use of white-lines, prison or needles.

When Allena Ward admitted to sexual misconduct with minors last September, I never thought the former Laurens County, South Carolina, middle school teacher would actually get 6 years in the big house. She took the adult out of adultery by meeting three 14 year old and two 15 year old students at restaurants, motels and school to do various deeds.

Although Solicitor Jerry Peace from the Eighth Circuit court believes Ward will serve 85 percent of the six-year term, she’ll probably be out in a year and a half; after all she’s the daughter of a minister, married, and holds the respected position as a middle school teacher at Bell Street Middle School in Clinton, SC….whoops, done got fir’d (source).

What I don’t get is, if she was in an unhappy marriage and needed a little “extra-curricular studies,” right, was she just too lazy to embark in the time-honored tradition of adulthood adultery? To cuckold is one thing, but how good of a time are you going to have with a 14-year-old? Her “victims” apparently thought the same thing.

“The court also heard written statements from her victims. They describe confusion on their part about why she wanted sex from them. Police began investigating Ward after a note containing inappropriate messages was given to school officials on February 22. According to investigators, the note was passed during class to one of the boys, then thrown in the trash.”

So it appears some of the cheerleaders from the NBA’s Sacramento Kings may have enjoyed a little extra camera time. The pictures, some of which may be as old as two years, were surfaced from a photobucket account by blog site withleather.com, but you can view the pictures here. The powers that be within the King organization have taken embarrassment over the situation. Owner Gavin Maloof in the Sac Bee…

“We obviously don’t condone that type of behavior. We’ll deal with it internally.”

Sure you don’t condone that behavior, Mr. Maloof. That’s why you’re the North State leader in double-D cash stuffing. Come on now, if anybody really gives a damn about these pictures, they are in need of a serious reality check. How different are these photos from those of a cheerleader’s swimsuit calendar? Four girls sporting G-strings… Ever see a muscle car magazine at Barnes & Noble? What, champagne bottles? Yowza! Woman on woman kiss? Forget about it.

If you happen to be one of the people that takes offense to these photos, crawl back into the time machine, set the dial for 1955, and get outta here.

So what if Mary Kate Olsen and Heath Ledger were hooking up? I don’t really care and neither should you. The point is that Heath’s masseuse found him “cold to touch” and called Mary Kate 2 times before the police, knowing that she was at least a trusted friend who had the ability to send help. She knew the situation was delicate. She was probably thinking about the massive amount of cameras, the morbid public eye, and the apathy of police work when she dialed Mary Kate to frantically ask what to do. Yeah, it looks a little shady, but when you read his last interview in the New York Times, you’ll see there’s no foul play. Just a tragic accident with sleeping pills; a male Marilyn Monroe. May he rest in peace and his life be celebrated.

As often happens when he throws himself into a part, the actor is not sleeping much.

“Last week, I probably slept an average of two hours a night. I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.”

One night, he said, he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.

Even as he spoke, Ledger was hard-pressed to keep still. He got up and poured more coffee. He stepped outside into the courtyard and smoked a cigarette. He shook his hair out from under its hood, put a rubber band around it, took out the rubber band, put on a hat, took off the hat, put the hood back up. He went outside for another cigarette.

Polite and charming, he nonetheless gave off the sense that the last thing he wanted to do was delve deep into himself for public consumption.

Allena Ward:

Five 14 or 15 year old male students in South Carolina must have sore hands from giving high-fives. Sure, Ms. Ward is no 10, but when you’re a 14 or 15 year old guy and you get to touch boobie — or anything else — it’s cause for celebration.

I just don’t get this kind of sentiment:

None of the victims were there to face their former teacher in person. Attornies say their lives have been forever scarred. “Their mindset has been damaged basically for the rest of their lives, and in fact, it is a life sentence on these kids.”

Wait, what? I remember back in 10th grade wanting nothing more in life than to get naked with my hot, 22-year-old government teacher. Ms. Whatsherface (who says teachers don’t leave lasting impressions?) was certainly way hotter than Allena Ward (and about a million times hotter than Karen Robbins, who is the 3rd Laurens County, SC teacher to be charged with kiddie touching in the last year), but at 16 or so, I wouldn’t have turned that down, let alone turn her in. But then again, neither Allena nor Karen were finger-pointed; they were emo enough to write letters or diaries, and keep them in their desks. That’s idiocy.
