si Motherfucker | Synthesis Magazine Blog

So I got a package from my homie Tom at Heavy Hitter Inc the other day, and he only ever sends the heaviest fucking shit; most of the bands he works have those logos that look light lightning bolts and barbed wire, and have names that imply some sort of death, dying, dead body or related morbidity. So of course I was stoked, and was even more stoked when I opened that fucker up and saw the “new” Christ Inversion record staring me in the face.

Christ Inversion, for those who don’t know (which is probably everybody reading this blog) was one of Phil Anselmo’s litany of side projects - alongside Pantera, Down, Superjoint Ritual, etc - only in this band, he played guitar and left the singing to a gnarly motherfucker by the name of Wayne Fabra. The band only ever made two demos, with one released a few years back, and this latest one (which are actually the earlier recordings) being released a few weeks back on Anselmo’s Housecore Records. Though it may be a new release, the demos all hail from the early ’90s and are heavy in a sloppy, New Orleans thrash kind of way. Keyboards, bizarre samples and an all-around lo-fi sonic approach only make shit seem even creepier. The song titles follow suit, with “Chimes of Deafening Misery,” “Obey the Will of Hell,” and “Prudent to the Thrones of God,” dovetailing nicely with the artwork, which includes a photo of a gloved man posing the nude corpse of an old woman for the camera. Man, they sure know how to have a good time down in N’awlins!

Anyways, they have some tracks for streaming up on the Myspace so go check that shit out if you don’t mind inviting Satan into your home.

Sherwood Announces Fall Tour

Though Sherwood were a whole lot cooler when that short Mexican looking guy was in the band, they are nevertheless still the homies, and they’ve been representing NorCal and MidCal all over the world as of lately, touring Europe, Asia and everywhere else their RV takes them, which will soon include their recently announced Fall headlining tour. Here’s the release, replete with dates, openers and hyperbole. Word of warning though, don’t play dice with Joe Greenetz. He picks that shit up like a motherfucker:

GOLDRUSH! - A Sherwood tour this October meant for seeing friends, polishing old finds, and mining new ones.

SONGS! - Between touring abroad and playing festivals in North America, the Sherwood lads have begun writing songs for a new album slated for 2009.

DELUXE! - This fall will also see the release of Sing But Keep Going [Deluxe Edition], Sherwood’s first album repackaged with 4 previously unreleased songs.

TOUR! – Thus with songs both old and new in mind, the guys are eager to catch up with friends and see what you all think.  That means select dates on the west coast this October with support from The Pink Spiders, The Summer Set, Barcelona, and The Reign Of Kindo:
