Tomorrow Oakland, CA, metal heroes High on Fire will release their new album Death is This Communion (produced by Jack Endino), and to celebrate, they’ve got a few things going on that don’t involve drinking the Blood of Virgins.

First, you should go to their MySpace page to hear “Rumors of War,” a track off the new album. Add it to your profile to prove to the world just how metal you are. Then you might want to check out the Newbury Comics Web site where you can pre-order the album and receive an autographed CD booklet with your purchase. FYE.com is also offering a giveaway to promote the album. You can enter this sweepstakes for a chance to win a guitar autographed by High on Fire, on which you can practice sludgy riffs until your weed runs out.

Above all, you should rejoice, because a new album means a new tour. Bay Area hessians should head over to Ameoba Records in San Francisco tomorrow, Sept. 18th, to check out a free all-ages show at 7 PM. From there, the group embarks on a month-long nationwide tour, beginning at the Casbah in San Diego on Sept. 20th. If you haven’t seen the group live, the experience is something akin to standing in the middle of a stampede of brontosaurs. Full tour schedule after the jump. (more…)

  • BREAKING NEWS: Disney Hates Metal

    machinehead.jpg

    From the Press Release:

In a stunning last-minute move, Walt Disney Properties have pressured promoter Live Nation into canceling Machine Head’s performance tomorrow night at the House of Blues venue in Anaheim (on their Disneyland property). Citing violent imagery, undesirable fans and inflammatory lyrics as the reason, the diversity-impaired corporation began pressuring the promoter on Saturday to cancel all upcoming heavy metal concerts, placing Machine Head under an internal “review process” that took 5 days before bothering to convey their alarming decision to the band late yesterday - less than 48 hours before their Black Tyranny Tour was to kick off at House of Blues Anaheim on Friday night.

While the enactment of this new blanket rule applies to all upcoming heavy metal shows at the House Of Blues Anaheim (with some metal bands having been banned from performing on name alone), Machine Head is the first band to actually have tickets go on sale, and remain on sale for 2 months, before intense pressure and vague threats of liability from the Corporation left the promoter with no choice but to remove the show from the venue.

As a result, Live Nation’s Paul McGuigan did the honorable thing and incredibly, on one days notice, managed to salvage the tour’s opening night by moving the first date of The Black Tyranny tour (featuring Machine Head, Arch Enemy, Throwdown, and Sanctity) to The Glass House in Pomona, CA (located at 200 W. Second Street). All existing tickets will be redeemable for entry at The Glass House, and all Will Call pickups will now be available for pickup at the new venue. Any fans unable to make the 70-mile trip to The Glass House as a result of this ridiculous turn of events will be able to have their money refunded in full. Strangely, all other Black Tyranny dates at House Of Blues venues on Disney property will remain unaffected.

On behalf of all four bands on the bill, Machine Head wish to extend their gratitude to promoter Paul McGuigan and Live Nation for finding an alternate venue for tomorrow night’s show on such short notice.

“Undesirable fans”? Has anybody at Disney Corp ever walked around fucking Disneyland? That place is like a concentration camp for fucking American asshole lopdicks and their progeny. No wonder Machine Head is sending out press releases about this. Being a Metal band and getting labeled “inflammatory” by Disney is like a being a teenage dude and having some girls parents say she shouldn’t date you. It’s like she probably wouldn’t like you that much, but now she’s totally gonna at least jack you off, just to piss off her dad.

  • In My Room, Furiously Beating Off

The title of this post was originally going to be “In My Room, Furiously Beating Off Until I Cum Blood” but I figured Bill might get pissed off at that one and stop paying me….But really, that’s exactly how stoked I am at the announcement of these upcoming tours.

Seriously, if you claim to appreciate heavy music you must attend one of these shows. (Actually, I can’t personally attest to Man Man’s heaviness, but they sound kinda vaudeville/old-timey, and that’s pretty rad too).

    RAD TOURS ALERT:

Big Business w/ The Melvins: September 16th - October 22nd

    Jesu w/ Torch: October 18th - October 30th

    Man Man: September 16th - October 19th

I will be doing nothing but pushups and curls until these shows, then smoke all sorts of opium right before the shows and be THAT GUY. Look out for me. I mean it. DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

Tour Dates after the jump: (more…)

Other than Zacky Vengeance being able to rip off a good Iron Maiden riff here and there, Avenged Sevenfold sucks balls. But they sell a lot of albums and get taken along on big ass tours so somebody’s gotta be buying this crap. Maybe it’s you. If it is, and you care, go check out the second installment of their in-studio “teaser,” which has been posted on my favorite site YouTube.

You can also listen to a clip of their new song on their MySpace page. I won’t, but you sure could.
