Add to the sound of panties splashing the sound of a million boners popping up against denim: Circa Survive will be touring with Thrice and PELICAN. Until then you can read Ryan Prado’s Pulitzer-worthy piece with Anthony Green when you download your free issue of Synthesis Digital HERE. Or watch my interview with pelican’s Brian Herweg HERE.

I’m going to be perfectly honest here, I haven’t showered in five days, and I stink. I’m usually pretty clean, but there have been a lack of showers so far on this tour. Even if there were a shower somewhere I probably wouldn’t have time to use it. Usually it’s hurry up and wait, but lately it’s been hurry up and hurry some more. I’ve been damn busy now that my workload has doubled, but I’m not complaining, I’m just adjusting. This tour is a different kind of situation. We have an entirely different crew than the last time around, so my time is spent teaching the new guys the routine of everything and trying to remember some things myself. We also have a bus full of people, 13 to be exact, and that is a slightly difficult thing to get used to all in itself. Tonight is the third night of tour, and as of yet, the coldest. It’s around 20 degrees and snowing like crazy here at the infamous Metro in Chicago. I really didn’t get to see much of Nashville or Columbus due to me being busy and tired, and the same will most likely happen again tonight. On top of the previously mentioned excuses, we’re in a slightly ghetto area, about a block away from Wrigley Field, and the only exciting places I’ve seen all day are a Starbucks and a hot dog stand, maybe I’ll get lucky and Steve Albini will come by and want to get a drink and hang out.

Despite some lineup changes (the band welcomes new bass player Matt Manning to the fold, and group founder Matt Good reclaims his frontman duties) and some label drama, From First to Last are full speed ahead for 2008. On April 15th, the group will release its self-titled debut for their new label, Suretone Records. The album was produced by Josh Abraham, who has worked with bands such as Slayer, Velvet Revolver and 30 Seconds to Mars. The band will release exclusively to Hot Topic stores on Feb. 12th a two-song teaser CD that will feature “We All Turn Back To Dust” and “Once Was Lost But Now Profound,” both from the new album (those of you in Novi, MI, the group will play an in-store performance at the Hot Topic there on Feb. 13th). As for hitting the road in support, they’ll spend the summer traveling North America as a headlining act of the 2008 Warped Tour. In the meantime, however, you can check out From First to Last as a main act on the Take Action tour, which gets underway Feb. 14th in Detroit. FFTL will be on-board for all 34 dates. The whens and wheres of the Take Action tour can be found after the jump. (more…)

Maybe they hit the road a lot, but when you rock as hard as The Sword do, you’ve got no choice. America’s favorite metal band will be hitting the road starting this week, so if you live anywhere between Austin, TX and the east coast, get ready. And if you’re a pot dealer, this would be a good time to stock up.
West coast fans may feel snubbed (I do), but I’ve been reassured that west coast dates are soon to follow. Dates after the jump. (more…)
