Cheech and Chong to Reunite

Finally someone realized that jokes about pot and bongs are still funny, and even better is that that ’someone’ are comedy duo Cheech and Chong.  The 70’s stoner comedians are officially announcing a Live Nation promoted tour, which hopefully we’ll be able to get some sweet YouTube content out of.   After a 25 year break citing ‘creative differences’, i.e. Chong was sick of Cheech bogarting the pipe and Cheetoes, the feud has ended. Spark up and read the Associated Press article.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Now that their feud is up in smoke, Cheech and Chong are high on plans to reunite for their first comedy tour in more than 25 years.

Cheech Marin told AP Radio that he and Tommy Chong “looked at each other going, `If we’re ever going to do something it has to be now because you’re not getting any younger and neither am I.’”

They tossed around some ideas and figured a comedy tour would be “the most fun” and “the least hassle,” the 62-year-old Marin said.

Marin and Chong, who broke up amid creative differences, have tried to reunite before, but have always fought too much. Marin laughed and said: “It takes about 3 minutes for that to happen. There’s this veiled hatred.” But he added: “We’ve kind of resolved that.”

“We’ve gotten to the age where we don’t feel like fighting anymore because the end is a lot closer than the beginning,” he said.

Marin said he thinks dope humor can be as funny today as it was back in the ’70s.

“I think it’s time for a revival of dope jokes. It’s a much bigger audience now, it’s much more widespread and institutionalized,” he said in an interview earlier this month.

Details of the “Hey, What’s That Smell?” tour were to be announced Wednesday at a news conference in West Hollywood, Calif., according to concert promoter Live Nation.

“I guess Cheech forgot how tough standup is,” Chong joked last month after Marin said they were considering reuniting.

“But he’s got the incentive and the enthusiasm and he’s ready,” he said of his former partner. “My boy is back.”

  • Jay-Z Is Too Rich

I’m so sick of the disgustingly rich. It’s hard not to be bitter in this sucky economy… Jay-Z just signed a 10-year contract with Live Nation worth $150 mil: a chunk of stock, $5 million per year for “overhead,” $25 million for acquisitions and investments, $10 million an album (for a three-album deal), and $20 million for publishing, licensing, and other rights.

Madonna also signed a 10-year contract with Live Nation worth $120 mil: rumored terms include a signing bonus of about $18 million and a roughly $17 million advance for each of three albums. She also owes Warner Brothers another album plus a greatest hits CD. She’s also negotiating a 2-concert deal in Dubai that will pay $24 mil. If the concert is 90 minutes, that’s $133,333 A MINUTE. All I got to say is, FTS, how about slippin’ me a $50 just for posting this and giving you free press on our super cool blog site? That’ll cover my drinks for the weekend as I attempt to guzzle away my broke ass blues. Send it here:

    BREAKING NEWS: Disney Hates Metal

    machinehead.jpg

    From the Press Release:

In a stunning last-minute move, Walt Disney Properties have pressured promoter Live Nation into canceling Machine Head’s performance tomorrow night at the House of Blues venue in Anaheim (on their Disneyland property). Citing violent imagery, undesirable fans and inflammatory lyrics as the reason, the diversity-impaired corporation began pressuring the promoter on Saturday to cancel all upcoming heavy metal concerts, placing Machine Head under an internal “review process” that took 5 days before bothering to convey their alarming decision to the band late yesterday - less than 48 hours before their Black Tyranny Tour was to kick off at House of Blues Anaheim on Friday night.

While the enactment of this new blanket rule applies to all upcoming heavy metal shows at the House Of Blues Anaheim (with some metal bands having been banned from performing on name alone), Machine Head is the first band to actually have tickets go on sale, and remain on sale for 2 months, before intense pressure and vague threats of liability from the Corporation left the promoter with no choice but to remove the show from the venue.

As a result, Live Nation’s Paul McGuigan did the honorable thing and incredibly, on one days notice, managed to salvage the tour’s opening night by moving the first date of The Black Tyranny tour (featuring Machine Head, Arch Enemy, Throwdown, and Sanctity) to The Glass House in Pomona, CA (located at 200 W. Second Street). All existing tickets will be redeemable for entry at The Glass House, and all Will Call pickups will now be available for pickup at the new venue. Any fans unable to make the 70-mile trip to The Glass House as a result of this ridiculous turn of events will be able to have their money refunded in full. Strangely, all other Black Tyranny dates at House Of Blues venues on Disney property will remain unaffected.

On behalf of all four bands on the bill, Machine Head wish to extend their gratitude to promoter Paul McGuigan and Live Nation for finding an alternate venue for tomorrow night’s show on such short notice.

“Undesirable fans”? Has anybody at Disney Corp ever walked around fucking Disneyland? That place is like a concentration camp for fucking American asshole lopdicks and their progeny. No wonder Machine Head is sending out press releases about this. Being a Metal band and getting labeled “inflammatory” by Disney is like a being a teenage dude and having some girls parents say she shouldn’t date you. It’s like she probably wouldn’t like you that much, but now she’s totally gonna at least jack you off, just to piss off her dad.
