I never played V:tM or anything, but when no one’s looking, I like listen to female-fronted Euro prog/goth metal. I’m not sure if I really like it, but I like to listen to it. Maybe it’s all the pomp and circumstance, or the beautiful women in corsets, or because when I was in high school, I used to read Tolkien and Anne Rice novels in the library instead of eating lunch in the cafeteria.

This is getting embarrassing.

Uh…yeah… After Forever are from Holland. And now they’re coming to the US and Canada for the first time. Here are the tour dates and videos, after the jump. (more…)

Synthesis photographer Hali McGrath made the long haul out to East Rutherford, NJ, for the last show of the 24-hour Live Earth concert series. Held on 7.7.07 in cities across the globe, Live Earth sought to raise awareness about the dangers of climate change. It also managed to bring together a lot of great acts. Here are just a sampling of Hali’s photos. Shots of Akon, Alicia Keys, Zach Braff, Smashing Pumpkins, John Mayer, The Police, Al Gore and Cameron Diaz after the jump. Look for more photos soon in an upcoming issue of Synthesis Digital. (more…)

Despite concerns about security capabilities, Live Earth Rio De Janeiro will continue as planned. Earlier this week, local authorities withheld approval for the concert, which will take place on Copacabana Beach and will be headlined by Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray and Pharrell Williams, but according to a statement released by Live Earth Communications Director Kristina Schake, the concerns have been addressed.

We are thrilled that Brazil will be a part of this monumental global event and that Latin America will help drive Live Earth's message about working together to combat the climate crisis. Rio is the only concert that is free and open to the public, and one of Live Earth's enduring images will be of the hundreds of thousands of people on Copacabana Beach being a part of Live Earth's global movement.

Live Earth is a 24-hour concert series that will take place 7/7/07. Beginning in Sydney, Austrailia, concerts will be hosted by major cities through out the day and across the world before concluding in “New York City” (but really it will be held across the Hudson at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, which sounds a lot less sexy). The Live Earth concert series will mark the beginning of “a multi-year campaign led by the Alliance for Climate Protection and other international NGOS to move individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve global warming,” according to the official press release. More info can be found here at the official Web site.
