Festival goers were pissed when Kanye West’s set was delayed for more than two hours. I would be too. He requested a late night performance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Tennessee but did not go on when he was scheduled. The festival crowd responded by chanting “Kanye sucks” and throwing glow sticks at the stage. What’s up with Kanye and glow sticks anyways?
He was supposed to take the main stage at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday morning. The concert goers were getting sleepy and waiting for West to come on stage. A message on the jumbotrons told them his show would be delayed until 3:15 a.m. and when that didn’t happen, 3:30 a.m.
West didn’t actually get on stage until 4:25 a.m. because there were problems setting up his elaborate stage set. The set included an interplanetary landscape, wavy black platform, slanted floor in the middle and a video screen above for his galactic themed concert… complete with a spaceship. At Bonnaroo, really?
Most of the crowd were mad and lost energy and returned to their camp sites. During his performance the morning light came out to show the crowd had disappeared. The crowd was still upset the next day and were encouraged by other bands to continue the “Kanye sucks” chant. Poor Kanye.

Kanye doesn’t appreciate when foreign objects fly towards his face. He will cry about it until you are kicked out of his show. Don’t believe me, here is some proof…
On Wednesday, a concertgoer threw something on stage during Kanye West, “Glow in the Dark” concert. The best part is when he says, “I am trying to do something big over here.” WOW. Like he wouldn’t respond to something being thrown on HIS stage! Do I need to remind you of what happened at the VMAs? It’s ok Kanye. You are the man. Odds were against you. J-Zay had no faith you could ever become famous but you still kept trying. You singlehandedly revamped the urban sound of hip hop ad rap. Your tour is on fire. You can even rap with your jaw wired shut. But is it possible to maybe eat some humble pie through the wire too?

The Lollapalooza lineup was dropped on the Internets today - might I be probably one of many to say “holy shit, that is one hell of a lineup”. Perry Farrell has done it again and with Rage Against the Machine playing that will only fuel more rumors about an actual Rage Against the Machine new album (hey, one can hope right?). Get your hotel reservations for Chicago early… Lineup is after the jump…

Kanye West is going corporate with the launch of his new travel website Kanye Travel Ventures. The site apparently features discount rates for hotels, rental cars, airfares, cruises and more with the potential for special travel packages (including Kanye concert tickets) in the future. Apparently the site has been a long time coming, with over a year of preparations before its launch.
Miki Woodard, president of the rapper’s company, West Brands, [said] the process has already taken nearly a year. “We did a lot of due diligence with online travel partners” before linking up with Travelocity.
Looking at the site you wouldn’t think it took a year to put together. The aesthetic is markedly plain and boring. Honestly this whole deal just seems a bit ridiculous. I’m familiar with cross-platform marketing and utilizing name recognition, but a travel site? WTF? That’s not hip-hop.

This just in (presses index finger to ear): Kanye West announced on his blog today that the U.S. / Canada leg of his tour will include Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D and Rihanna. I bet you want dates and locations. Too bad. Stay tuned!! In the meantime, maybe you could check out the sweet (but vague) tour poster:

Or maybe you could brush up on your Connect Four game (that links to an online version). It helped ‘Ye get through hard times with the loss of his mom while he was on tour in Europe.

If I may express my opinion here (and allow you, dear reader, to hate on it) I can’t really get with the Connect Four revival. You want strategy? Try playing some Sequence, beezies! That’s the real ish.

Donda West - mother of Kanye West - died today at the age of 58. The cause of death has not yet been released.
Donda served as Kanye’s manager and was a former chairman of the English department at Chicago State University.
Earlier this year, she released a book titled Raising Kanye which detailed his childhood and her experiences as her son’s manager.
