Listening to their musical brutality you’d think Hatebreed would sooner smash your face in than have a pleasant conversation with you. Not so. When Synthesis met up with singer Jamey Jasta, he was cuddly as a kitten. Okay, that may be an overstatement, but our camera operator/designer sure had to restrain herself from petting him. Check out the footage (below) RIGHT AFTER peeping Synthesis interview (right here).

For those who missed their summer tour, do not fret yerself. Their live DVD, Live Dominance, will be floor-punching streets in September:

  • Hatebreed Week on Synthesis.net

Unplanned by us, this week has turned out to be Hatebreed week here at Synthesis: with the band on the cover of this week’s Synthesis weekly, an interview with the band on the frontpage of the website, Spencer’s blog yesterday about Waiting for Jasta (like Waiting for Guffman only more pissed) and today’s YouTube video of Synthesis metal guru Cayle Hunter chopping it up with Mr. Jasta himself, we couldn’t jock Hatebreed more if we TRIED.

  • When Hatebreed’s management called us to push the interview time forward, and then pretty much fucked it off without a phone call back, Dallas and I were left with only one option:

I can’t remember the last time I built a fort, but it probably was not nearly as epic as this particular fort. The best part about it, though, was the fact that we built it right in the office’s entry-way, and every person who came in had to climb over the cushion-less couch.

    Our CEO Bill Fishkin:

Armed For Apocalypse drummer Nick Harris:

Synthesis Editor and Candy Apple frontman Jacob Sprecher:

The list goes on. Me, I would have just knocked the stupid thing over. Luckily, the rest of the office fears my wrath, and nothing would stir my wrath more than knockin over my fucking badass fort. See the front? It has gun turrets! Halliburton could learn a thing or two here.

UPDATE: Hatebreed just fucked off the second interview time (rescheduled for 8:00, fingers crossed). In the meantime, blueprints to rebuild the fort are quickly being drawn up. Emerald City look out.

UPDATE #2: Jamey from Hatebreed is way nice. My new fort is even nicer.

  • Kingdom of Sorrow

    kos.jpg

If I only got three words to describe Kingdom of Sorrow, the project from Crowbar/Down riffmaster Kirk Windstein and Hatebreed vocalist/MTV VJ Jamey Jasta it would be : HARD AS F. And you know what, I think I will just use those three words. Because I don’t really know what else to say. If you even sort of like Down, Hatebreed, Crowbar, etc al, Kingdom of Sorrow will, to quote Synthesis sales guru Cayle Hunter, “make you jerk off using your own tears as lube.”

Their self-titled debut record drops February 19th on Relapse, and the band will be heading out on tour, rounding out their line-up with Steve Gibb from Crowbar on guitar ( who is, strangely enough, Barry Gibb from the BeeGee’s son…no shit) Derek Kerswill from Unearth on drums and some random dude from New Orleans on bass. If they play within 100 miles of your city and you dont go you are officially kicked out of metal. For life.
