The upcoming “Music” title for Wii has a lot of promise. Now, if they can license some music besides classic Nintendo tunes, Rock Band and Guitar Hero will be in serious trouble…

From BBC:

The company did unveil a Grand Theft Auto game in development for the DS console and a new Wii title, called Music, which sees gamers play more than 50 musical instruments by using the Wiimote motion-sensitive controller. Mr Iwata said the success of the Wii and the DS was proof of a new form of social interaction developing. He said: “I believe we must find more ways for players to feel engaged, different ways for them to be enriched. The overall experience from our products must be increased enthusiasm.”

A gamer survey posted on Consolehero.com has revealed details about the forthcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour installment of the Guitar Hero series, including some news guaranteed to make Video Matt milk his one eyed trouser snake: Hayley Williams will be a playable character in the game, along with Jimi Hendrix, Billy Corgan and a bunch of others. • Van’s Warped Tour Contest

It’s summer.  In Chico, that means we get drunk, go down to the olde’ swimmin hole and then get engulfed in the current mess of smoke caused by the 4 billion fires in Northern California.  At the Synthesis, it means that we have too much cool shit laying around, so we’re giving stuff away.

Our Warped Tour/ Guitar Hero contest has been birthed (it’s a girl!) and now you need to adopt that shit.  We’ve got sick band’s signatures all over this thing, and if we were smart we would throw this on Ebay and spend the money on hookers and beer… but we’re not.  How do you with this fine piece of gaming history?  We’ll I would start by watching the video below, then subscribing to our YouTube channel and leaving us a message telling us how you want it more the Cournty Love was her soul back (who names a baby girl Francis Bean, anyways?!).   Here’s Alex from Cobra Starship reppin it.

Metallica is being honored with their own version of Guitar Hero in 2009. Song selection might be a problem for the band, especially deciding whether to feature any of their new material. The Metallica version of Guitar Hero will probably include mostly tracks from the new album to up record sales.

Choosing the entire album Kill ‘Em All is unlikely but seems like it would make the most Metallica fans happy. Ride The Lightning may be a better choice for Guitar Hero because the featured songs are perfect for smashing buttons on a plastic guitar. This album could potentially be problematic on a game that plenty of youngsters play because it discusses the death penalty, etc. This would probably have to have a mature rating, limiting sales. Master of Puppets would be a better choice for Guitar Hero because after coming out, it reached a large and diverse audience. Metal fans who consider Master of Puppets the best metal album of all time could have a problem with it entering the video game world, but who knows? And Justice For All will most likely be included, or at least the popular track “One.” For now we’ll just have to wait and keep playing the Aerosmith edition.

Here’s one for all those ab-punkers who think we’re just foolin around with our announcement earlier today that seminal afro-punkers At The Drive-In will have a song featured on Guitar Hero IV:

I can already feel my hair getting frizzy.
