  • Former Jawbreaker/Jets To Brazil frontman and inventor of modern emo Blake Schwartzenbach is back with a new outfit called Thorns of Life, which he says “sounds like a storehouse of fond hatred from the last few years and in the now.” EMOVEMBER IS OFFICIALLY HERE. Anyways, there is some video of the band playing a Brooklyn house show last week floating around on YouTube, one of which is posted above.

  • Though Katy Perry is stacking ultimate fame via her #1 single “I Kissed A Girl” (remember the time Jill Sobule already wrote that song? I DO!) her fundamentalist Christian parents are not amused:

Instead of getting praised, the daughter of evangelical Christian preachers is deemed “shameful and disgraceful” with the lyrics of the song that promotes “sin”.

Speaking to DailyMail.co.uk, Perry’s mom, Mary Hudson said, “I hate the song. It clearly promotes homosexuality and its message is shameful and disgusting.” She added that this is no longer a secret, saying, “Katy knows how I feel. We are a very outspoken family and she knows how disappointed her father and I are. I can’t even listen to that song. The first time I heard it I was in total shock. When it comes on the radio I bow my head and pray.”

Her parents of course, long for the days when Katy Perry was Katy Hudson, Christian pop singer and girlfriend of Relient K frontman Matt Thiessen. But man, look at her scans! Just give her a few years and then she can repent, get born again, shit out a bunch of kids and live off the residuals for the rest of her damn life, the true American Christian way!

  • Last time we checked in with the elusive Ronnie Radke, Tiger Beat cover boy and former frontman for shithead rock band Escape the Fate, he was on the lamb, wanted for Battery in connection with an altercation that claimed the life of 18-year old Michael Cook. However, it seems Mr. Radke could only escape his fate for so long, and today he was sentenced to four years in jail. Somewhere, a fat teenage girl’s make-up is running down her face…

  • A Rocket To the Moon Sign to FBR / Decaydance

Remember the other day when Chico homie Justin Richards from Brighten was on TRL accompanying one-man electro-pop outfit A Rocket To the Moon? Well if you don’t check out the video above (BAHLETED by stupid YouTube). You’ll see why, at last night’s CD release show for fellow emos (and J-Rich jockers) The Maine, Fall Out Boy frontman and founder of Decaydance records announced that he was signing ARTM to his label. Add that to the fact that The Maine’s debut CD cracked the Top 40 on this week’s Billboard charts, scanning over 12,000 copies, and it becomes apparent that bands who jock Brighten’s sound are coming up big. It makes one wonder, when is Brighten gonna get laced up with a new deal of their own??? Guess we’ll see…
