Finch Release New EP on iTunes

It smells like burritos today, and I’m starving… dammit.

In more relevant news, recently reunited rockers Finch are debuting their first album back on iTunes today. Although it’s only 4 tracks, it is being completely funded by the band, with a physical copy to be released in stores shortly. 2 of the songs, Daylight and From Hell, are streaming on their Myspace page right now. Hop on over to their iTunes store and pick it up, it’s only $4.

It’s been 3 years since we’ve heard any original work from Electro / J-POP / Visual rockers Finch (hey, it’s what it says on their Myspace). Recently the quintet recorded a 4 track EP by themselves, and will be releasing it on July 22nd. Lucky for the internetz, we have access to 2 of the tracks right HERE. What do I think of them? Meh, I was hoping for better, but I was probably the only person on Earth that liked Say Hello To Sunshine.

    Tour dates after the jump.

  • The Sound of Animals Fighting

…is pretty sweet, I must say. Now if you’ve already heard of them/been listening to them then you are ahead of me, so kudos to you. BUT did you know that they are releasing a 3rd album?? And did you know it’s going to be released on Epitaph and not on Equalvision?

    TSOAF

…well they are, and now you know. So that’s pretty exciting, yes? YES. They have yet to announce when the album will actually be released, but they just announced this label switch last month, so I would predict the next album to drop in early to mid 2008 and I have high hopes of some summer tour dates*.

*Please note, I really have no inside info on any of this and it’s just my personal prediction–but the release on Epitaph says the record will be released sometime in ‘08.

BACKGROUND INFO: For those of you out of the loop, as I am, and haven’t heard of TSOAF, they’re quite a talented bunch. It’s basically a super-band made up of members of other popular indie bands. If you visit their website or their MySpace you’ll see their members are listed as various animals, the four most prominent of which are the walrus, the lynx, the nightingale, and the skunk–which translates to (according to Wikipedia, so who knows how accurate this actually is, but) Matt EmbreeĀ  (of the RX Bandits), Chris Tsagakis (also of the RX Bandits), Rich Balling (formerly of the RX Bandits) and Anthony Green (of Circa Survive). But there are tons of other animals making guest appearances on multiple tracks which includes members of Atreyu, The Autumns, Chiodos, Days Away, Finch, The Hippos, Sunn O))) and possibly Portugal the Man. It’s definitely something to check out if your a fan of any of the aforementioned bands.

  • Finch Reunites!

This absolutely ups my day from “slightly buzzed and tired” to “slightly buzzed and stoked”!

To the surprise of what is sure to be plenty, Alternative Press has exclusively learned that San Diego emo/punk quintet Finch are reuniting. The band initially split in February 2006, citing that their “individual priorities lie in different places.”

The band’s first show back will be Nov. 23 at the Glasshouse in Pomona, California. Core members Nate Barcalo (vocals), Alex Linares (guitar) and Randy Strohmeyer (guitar/vocals) will be joined by Drew Marcogliese on drums and Daniel Wonacott on bass; Marcogliese and Wonacott are both members of Cosmonaut, Barcalow’s post-Finch project. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon through Ticketmaster. This is currently the only show the band have scheduled.

After an unwelcomed response to ‘Say Hello to Sunshine’ (great c.d.) the band broke up for different projects. If you’re in the L.A. area on the 23rd of next month, be sure to check them out.
