So there’s this bum hangout right around the corner from the Synthesis office. It’s like this shelter for young adults who want to sit around all day smoking cigarettes and hanging on the couch in the air conditioning with their pit bull mix instead of, well, anything else. Today on my way to get coffee, Dain and I walked by this young derelict who asks, almost as an afterthought, if he could bum a cigarette. It might have been a cold move, but this was my response:
I think singing one bar of the The Silhouettes’ “Get a Job” got my point across.
Being a dick is awesome.

After suffering a “mild” heart attack, American actor Kelsey Grammer is recovering in an undisclosed hospital in Hawaii. Grammer, most beloved for his recurring role as Sideshow Bob in The Simpsons television show (and, you know, that whole Cheers and Frasier thing that never really took off…), aged 53, owns property on the island of Kona with his wife Camille. According to AP, Grammer’s spokesman says the television and film star suffered a mild heart attack while paddle boarding on Saturday and will be released early this week, adding “there’s no reason to be blue.”
sorry. I have no idea what’s wrong with me.

The video for El-P’s second single “Flyentology” off his soon to be released I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead is everything you would expect from the collision of his chaotic paranoid sound with the animated genius that is William Streets studio (creators of pretty much everything good on Adult Swim). It’s funny how a video that connects the music and visuals is a seemingly rare treat, but both parties have succeeded with this one. Artistically every angle is covered with innovative illustration and design, and you know how El does it with the music so you know it’s nothing cute or sweet. And if you didn’t think it could get any better “Flyentology” is also a collaboration with El and Trent Reznor.
And be sure to check out the two part interview with El-P about the remixes he’s done over the years including NIN, The Mars Volta, Beck and more at SynthesisRadio.net
