Wrong Woman Given Abortion

The wrong woman was given a chemical abortion tablet at a clinic. The nurse, Ann Downer, mixed up the woman with another lady with the same first name. The drug was given to a woman who was only at the Calthorpe Clinic in Birmingham for an initial consultation. She had not made the decision to terminate her pregnancy when the nurse gave her the pill.

The poor woman was in terrible pain when the staff realized what happened and called her back into the clinic. They told her that a surgical abortion was highly advised. Downer should have given the drug to another patient who was in the last stage of chemical termination which can only be used by women who have been pregnant less than 9 weeks.

The clinic’s practice was to call out first names only in the waiting room to protect confidentiality. Once in private, the nurse is supposed to check details to make sure it is the correct person. Downer FAILED to do this and gave her the pill. Blood tests and a scan are supposed to be done before even considering this option. I feel so bad for this lady. F dirty clinics and idiot nurses! Couldn’t this have happened to someone else, like maybe one of the Spears ladies?

  • Andy Dick A Mess, Again

Last week Andy Dick got kicked out of the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas because his pit bull bit a guest and he was a sloppy mess. Now he has some bigger problems on his plate: sex and drug charges. He was arrested in Riverside County for investigation of sexual battery and his drug use.

Dick, 42, was arrested around 2 a.m. this morning in a parking lot outside Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar. He is being held on $5,000 bail. He probably isn’t going to get off too easy seeing as he has been arrested for marijuana and cocaine possession, drove his car into a telephone pole in Hollywood and was cited for urinating public. Time for another stint in rehab.

  • Hell Fuck Yeah! Spencer’s Back

Breath easy internet, I have returned to my blogging post. Over the last week and a half I’ve been journeying up the Pacific Coast with Bear Hunter . As it turns out, when I try and write on my laptop while in the van I start to puke all over my band mates — hence, my absence from Synthesis Blog. Over the next few days I will be recounting my harrowing journey (in between fascinating posts about pop stars getting busted for drugs, children with weird growths on their bodies and general paranoid-paranormal fodder). Get ready, dear readers. Get your asses ready.

    Addiction, The Economy and Environmentalism

What does Rehab have to do with sustainability?
It’s like a personalized Superfund site. We don’t have any money in the not-so-Superfund, either, just like we don’t have funding for rehabs.
If you’re a wanton garbagehead, something probably will fall apart to the point where you at least end up with a DUI. And that, my friends, is a long hard row to hoe, costing you an ass-pile of money and the humiliation of DrunkSchool. I’m not talking about some Jäger in your Kleen Kanteen in that boring evening class. You know what I mean. Money or time is what you’ll be out, and probably both.
Economy: Ever seen Rich’s crew on Saturdays and Sundays? Skulking, chastened youths and insouciant fun-loving criminals alike, sweeping up the cigarette butts of the previous night’s revelers? How much money would the City of Chico have to pay fools to do that work? [Ed note: Rich's Crew is a local organization where those arrested for misdemeanors like Drunk In Public, Minor In Possession, etc, clean the streets of Chico weekend mornings.]
How much do people make in California prisons? Well, from www.pia.ca.gov:
“Court-ordered restitution/fines are deducted from the wages earned by CALPIA inmates and are transferred to the Crime Victims’ Restitution Fund. CALPIA inmates receive wages between $.30 to $.95 per hour, before deductions.”
Companies get a 10 percent discount on taxes for using prison labor — plus, they get to put that awesome “Made in the USA” tag on their product! Yay!
Good for PIA for creating a reparations fund (speaking of which, when are black Americans to get theirs?) — but I bet they don’t exempt the prisoners who committed “victimless” crimes.
How many people are in jail on drug charges?
“Drug arrests have more than tripled in the last 25 years, totaling a record 1.8 million arrests in 2005. Drug offenders in prisons and jails have increased 1100 percent since 1980. Nearly a half-million (493,800) persons are in state or federal prison or local jail for a drug offense, compared to an estimated 41,100 in 1980. Nearly 6 in 10 persons in prison for a drug offense have no history of violence or high-level drug selling activity.”
Please — I mean it — check this Web site out: www.november.org/graphs. It’s extensive.
“In 1985, our incarceration rate was 313 per 100,000 population. As of December 2006 it was 751 per 100,000. The largest single factor contributing to this imprisonment wave is a ten-fold rise in drug convictions.”

Britain’s favorite little drug addict was at it again last night, reportedly punching Moroccan musician Mustapha el Mounmi in the face and head butting a stranger who was trying to hail her a cab…

  • Thug Laws: Thanks Internet!

    THug Life
I’m really glad I got a text from our good friend and balls champion earlier today. You see, I was about to go out on the street and slang, and I was about to do it all wrong. My boy told me to look up “Thug life Commandments,” and I’m glad he did. In Thug Life’s “Ten Crack Commandments Interpreted by True OGs,” we learn the tips of the trade, and ways to continue to follow the true American entrepreneurial spirit without getting shot or locked up.

Take for instance Rule #5. I was about to start selling meth to college freshmen out of my bedroom, but now I know better.:

    5th Commandment
Never Sell No Crack Where You Rest At

If you sell crack where you lay yo head, yo crib gon become a target fo 5-0, jackers, addicts and niggas who rob slangas. To avoid this heat, git you some crack houses, Find abandoned cribs in da hood and tak’em over. Fortify yo shit wit security bars, steel doors and security cameras and git you some young and up and coming hoods to be yo lookouts.

Not sure how well this translates from crack to meth, but it’s a good start, and some decent guidelines for sure. This is the shit that the characters in The Wire kinda gloss over. It’s like they figure you should already know this shit because you grew up with it. That’s fucked. Us suburban middle class-raised white folks sure have a major disadvantage. KnowaddimeSane? Wigga Please
