As an added bonus to today’s good day, Google informed me that Michael Vick has started serving his prison sentence.  In an effort to get out of custody a.s.a.p., he has decided to surrender himself to the police and begin his time in jail, which is more than likely in the 12-18 month range. 

In August, Vick pleaded guilty for his role in a dogfighting operation known as Bad Newz Kennels at his former property in Surry County, Va. Vick acknowledged financing the operation beginning in 2001 through this past spring. In a plea agreement, Vick admitted the operation involved the “victimization and killing of pit bull dogs.”… “The sooner he gets in, the better it is for him if he wants to play football again,” said Atlanta criminal defense attorney Jerry Froelich, who has followed Vick’s case. “He should have gone into custody right away.”   

Bad Newz Kennels? I’m usually not one for the old ‘eye for an eye’ saying, but I really do hope this guy gets sodomized by a large man named Rocco.  *Side note: Looking for a Christmas dog? Check out the Humane Society before hitting up a breeder. There’s plenty of animals (many many pitt bulls) that are in need of some love. I got my pitt/beagle mix Roxie there a year ago and couldn’t be happier. /rant.

Being privy to hyper-sensitive news is usually a good thing in this journalism racket. That is, until you hear that a revered Atlanta Falcons quarterback whose name rhymes with “dick” has been peddling a national dog fighting organization and consistently murdering under-performing canines by means of electrocution, drowning, shooting, and other means not right with the Lord.
