Someone over at Current TV saw my post about the Great Mexican Emo Wars of 2008 and forwarded over a link to a short film by Ioan Grillo looking at the Emo Culture in Mexico City and other parts of Mexico. Personally, Spoon has never really done it for me. But any band with a former member of the Get Up Kids (in Spoon’s case, bassist Rob Pope ) is a band I will support. And besides, Spoon stacks cred like Visa. Here’s the release:

Following on a standing-room-only U.S. tour that culminated in the Don’t You Evah EP entering Billboard’s singles sales chart at #1, Britt Daniel, Jim Eno, Eric Harvey and Rob Pope-collectively known as Spoon-have confirmed their final live engagements of 2008.
This last run of Spoon shows will be preceded by a May 3 Britt Daniel solo performance at the Belly Up in Solana Beach CA. From there, the full band will be headlining the KNRK Pet Aid Benefit in Troutdale OR, playing their biggest ever New York show July 15 at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, appearing at the Mile High and Pitchfork festivals, making their debut at the Hollywood Bowl September 20 supporting Beck, and concluding with a three-night residency at the Fillmore Theater in San Francisco-the last dates of the tour and first Spoon SF headline engagement since the July 2007 release of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Tickets for the Fillmore shows go on sale to the general public May 11. These dates will mark the close of more than a year’s worth of touring in support of Spoon’s sixth full-length studio album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, which was Spoon’s first Top 10 album and most acclaimed release of their career.

Our friends Saves the Day announced that they are going to be selling the 2nd and 3rd volumes of their homemade Bug Sessions recordings during their stint on the upcoming Bamboozle Road Show tour:

So I’ve got really great news! I just heard back about a little surprise we’ve been keeping from you… Bug Sessions Volume 2 AND Bug Sessions Volume 3 will be ready to sell on the Bamboozle Road Show this spring! We just received word that the discs are now being shipped to us so we can bring them on tour to sell directly to you, our beautiful fans! Bug Sessions is our little way of showing our appreciation to our hardcore fans by doing acoustic renditions of old and new STD songs. You can’t find Bug Sessions in any stores. You can only buy them at Saves The Day concerts, which ensures only diehard fans can acquire the special CDs. We know you guys loved Bug Sessions Vol 1, so we set out to give you two brand new Bug Sessions at once! Last fall, David and I embarked on an acoustic tour of the US, and we recorded every night to use the best performances for Bug Sessions Vol 2 & 3. So after listening to all the shows, we decided we had enough good material for two new Bug Sessions. Each CD will have 7 songs, a mixture of old and new Saves The Day music. One of my favorite aspects of these new Bug Sessions discs is the audience participation. I can hear you guys singing along real loud, and it gives me goose-bumps on songs like “Hold” and “Rocks Tonic Juice Magic”. It’s really neat to be able to feel the vibe of the show. Jimmy Eat World and Paramore have announced the routing of a U.S. co-headline tour scheduled to kick off April 1st. Said Jimmy Eat World singer Jim Adkins, “We’re very excited for the upcoming tour with Paramore. We got to know them last December while playing festivals together. They put on a great show and we think it’s going to be an awesome bill.” Adds Hayley Williams (Paramore), “If it all ends tomorrow, we will be happy knowing that we got a tour with the band that gave us a reason to play music.”
