Add to the sound of panties splashing the sound of a million boners popping up against denim: Circa Survive will be touring with Thrice and PELICAN. Until then you can read Ryan Prado’s Pulitzer-worthy piece with Anthony Green when you download your free issue of Synthesis Digital HERE. Or watch my interview with pelican’s Brian Herweg HERE.

Tour Dates after the jump. (more…)

  • The Sound of Animals Fighting

…is pretty sweet, I must say. Now if you’ve already heard of them/been listening to them then you are ahead of me, so kudos to you. BUT did you know that they are releasing a 3rd album?? And did you know it’s going to be released on Epitaph and not on Equalvision?

    TSOAF

…well they are, and now you know. So that’s pretty exciting, yes? YES. They have yet to announce when the album will actually be released, but they just announced this label switch last month, so I would predict the next album to drop in early to mid 2008 and I have high hopes of some summer tour dates*.

*Please note, I really have no inside info on any of this and it’s just my personal prediction–but the release on Epitaph says the record will be released sometime in ‘08.

BACKGROUND INFO: For those of you out of the loop, as I am, and haven’t heard of TSOAF, they’re quite a talented bunch. It’s basically a super-band made up of members of other popular indie bands. If you visit their website or their MySpace you’ll see their members are listed as various animals, the four most prominent of which are the walrus, the lynx, the nightingale, and the skunk–which translates to (according to Wikipedia, so who knows how accurate this actually is, but) Matt Embree  (of the RX Bandits), Chris Tsagakis (also of the RX Bandits), Rich Balling (formerly of the RX Bandits) and Anthony Green (of Circa Survive). But there are tons of other animals making guest appearances on multiple tracks which includes members of Atreyu, The Autumns, Chiodos, Days Away, Finch, The Hippos, Sunn O))) and possibly Portugal the Man. It’s definitely something to check out if your a fan of any of the aforementioned bands.

  • Get Paid to Jock Emo Bands

     getthatpaper.jpg

One of the more tiresome aspects of having any sort of job related to the music industry is the obligatory “MAN ARE YOU LUCKY!!!!! YOU GET PAID TO SIT AROUND AND LISTEN TO MUSIC!!!!111″ conversation that happens 345349 times a week. Though, on it’s face, that statement is more or less false, I have to admit that there are indeed times that, yes, I get paid to sit around and listen to music (like this morning when I drank my coffee and stared longingly out the window listening to the spectacular forthcoming Copeland B-sides and rarities collection Dressed Up & In Line). But this took many years of hard work and sitting around NOT getting paid to listen to music, but rather do other less fun things underneath the people getting paid to listen to music (many of which I still have to do, ie: THIS POST)…

ANYWAY, the point to all of this is that, instead of just whining to me in bars and at shows about how much you hate working at Cingular and totally LOVE MUSIC and BANDS and BLAHBLAH why don’t you get off your ass and get a fucking job in the music industry. “BUT HOW?>??!!!” comes to chorus of helpless fucktards. Well how about this: our friends over at the amazing Equal Vision Records are currently looking to fill not one, but TWO staff positions which you can read about here. Equal Vision is of course home to a litany of amazing bands, such as Circa Survive, The Fall of Troy, etc, etc. NOW’S YOUR CHANCE MAN. I mean, you’ll have to move to Albany, but hey, at least you’ll be able to check out the Tulip Festival.

So it’s official, the CWK tour with the White Stripes has in fact been canceled. HAHA! I wanted to get tickets to that, but they were sold out…so lucky I didn’t! They were going for like $200 - $300 on eBay and Craigs List…sucks for those people who bought them off there. Nevertheless, the ‘Kids did schedule a small tour. I’m stoked. I bought tickets the minute they went on sale…I didn’t want to take any chances–these tickets sell out as if they were giving them away. So go to Ticketmaster.com and order yours quick! Once again, LA peeps, I’ll see you at the Wiltern on Nov. 23–woohoo!!

  • Vans Warped Tour 2007 Sleep Train

    Photos by Melissa Welliver
after 10 years of attending warped tour. i can say this was the last year i will ever go. 105 degrees in the sun (yeah, no shade!) and after having the flu the night before, warped tour was the worst thing i’ve experienced in a long time. but some how i took a few rad pictures in between consuming 5 gallons of water. i probably spent some where around $30 on those damn h20 bottles.
