Former Synthesis Managing Editor and all-around Chico legend Max Sidman left for the greener pastures of the Bay Area some years back in search of fame and fortune. He, of course found both, but more importantly found himself a badass band, Ovipositor. Check out an interview with the band over on the Synthesis.net homepage and if you’re lucky enough to live in the Bay (or even luckier, to live in Chico) check the band out live the next few weeks rawt hurr:

Apart from boasting a shithead college for shithead students and the world famous Sierra Nevada Brewery, Chico, California, has a thriving (if not nationally recognized) music scene. Many of the players in this scene contribute to a summer School of Rock-style band camp named The Collective Sound. Last year they decided to start putting together a documentary of the goings-on of the staff and the campers, aged 12-18. Watching it will give you that warm on the insides feeling. Please enjoy Episode 4.

Set in the small town of Chico California, Let It Be Heard… is an inspirational story of a small group of young musicians that embark on an adventure of a lifetime. The web documentary follows the journey of 50 young artists, come together from around the world, for 3 weeks of The Collective Sound Summer Music Academy, the worlds first touring summer music camp. The kids have only 2 weeks to write, record, make an epk, shoot a video, and get ready for the Element Youth Movement CoOp Tour. What the kids really learn is less about music and more about how creativity is the key to accomplishing more than you ever dreamed possible. Prepare to laugh, to be inspired, and to be taken back to a time when all of life’s possibilities could be realized in the moments spent doing something you love.
