Coco Crisp is a pussy.

Jake’s blog about Paul Pierce reminded me about another recent incident involving a Boston athlete. Coco Crisp got hit by a pitch in the first inning against the Rays a few days ago - and had it coming because of his ridiculously hard slide in to 2nd base the day before - but instead of walking down to first base like a man, he charged the mound. He didn’t fare so well, as there were a lot of swings and misses, which pretty much his entire career as a Red Sock.

Even so, a good baseball fight is good for the soul sometimes. Enjoy.

Today, Synthesis’ Band You’ve Never Heard of Band of the Day will stray a little bit into the electro side of the rock spectrum. And by “a little bit” I mean entirely. Boston electro-rock duo Matters & Dunaway meet at the mid-point where pleather-clad ravers chat Matrix post-apocalyptic fashion and The Faint still mattered. Their is the sound of a not to distant future that was realized in the last decade, with neon-lit tubes blurring by at chemically enhanced speeds. Their new EP, Feel The Future, is available now via iTunes and Amazon.

Matters and Dunaway - Feel The Future
Streetdate May 20, 2008

Matters & Dunaway were last heard in late 2004 fusing ambient electronic with intricate rock rhythms straddling a line between melancholy and euphoria. Since that time, the duo from Boston, MA have been honing their unique blend of tech-rock into a more compressed, aggressive sound. Feel the Future is saturated with bursting cymbals, darting bass lines and revving synthesizers.

Yeah he’s got ball(s), but does does Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong have enough ball(s) to take the Boston Marathon championship away from one long-legged Kenyan?
Robert Cheruiyot is a badass
No. Robert Cheruiyot took that shit for the fourth time with 2 hours, 7 minutes, 46 (32 seconds slower than his record. Guess he was just playing with the crowd). Armstrong was running for charity.

From WBZTV

Armstrong finished the course in 2 hours, 50 minutes and 58 seconds…

Armstrong is raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which pursues an agenda focused on cancer prevention, access to screening and care, the improvement of the quality of life for cancer survivors, and an investment in research.

“I’m excited to be here,” told WBZ’s Steve Burton before the race.

“If I broke 3 hours I’d be happy. I’m not in perfect shape, but the point is to get out here and enjoy it and really be part of the atmosphere and the ambiance of this great marathon.”

Armstrong’s foundation has 50 runners in the race. They hope to raise $250,000.

It’s no wonder that beer drinking can be dangerous, but Sam Adams drinkers now have more to fear than just cirrhosis of the liver. The Boston brewing company issued a voluntary recall of a number of 12 oz. beer bottles today after it was discovered that some third party manufactured bottles have to the potential to contain shards of glass.

During a routine bottle inspection at one of our breweries, we detected possible defects in a small percentage of bottles resulting in the random presence of bits of glass, most the size of grains of sand, but some small slivers in some bottles as well. Based on this sample, we quickly began testing bottles of Samuel Adams at all of our breweries and identified that the problem appeared to be isolated to a single glass plant of the five that supply us…

The potentially affected bottles are easily identified by a raised letter and number visible on the bottom edge of the bottle. Affected bottles are embossed with the digits “N35” followed by the letters “OI”. Please see the photo below. Bottles with this coding should not be drunk. SamuelAdams.com
