Festival goers were pissed when Kanye West’s set was delayed for more than two hours. I would be too. He requested a late night performance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Tennessee but did not go on when he was scheduled. The festival crowd responded by chanting “Kanye sucks” and throwing glow sticks at the stage. What’s up with Kanye and glow sticks anyways?
He was supposed to take the main stage at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday morning. The concert goers were getting sleepy and waiting for West to come on stage. A message on the jumbotrons told them his show would be delayed until 3:15 a.m. and when that didn’t happen, 3:30 a.m.
West didn’t actually get on stage until 4:25 a.m. because there were problems setting up his elaborate stage set. The set included an interplanetary landscape, wavy black platform, slanted floor in the middle and a video screen above for his galactic themed concert… complete with a spaceship. At Bonnaroo, really?
Most of the crowd were mad and lost energy and returned to their camp sites. During his performance the morning light came out to show the crowd had disappeared. The crowd was still upset the next day and were encouraged by other bands to continue the “Kanye sucks” chant. Poor Kanye.

Metallica is notorious for having issues with the internet when they were successful in ending Napster. Metallica recently invited music journalists and bloggers to a private listening party of their new album. There were no disclosure agreements signed or even spoken of. The event was reported on a number of different blogs and the new tracks were discussed.
Metallica got angry and sent notices to all the blogs to take down the posts regarding the band or legal action would be taken. Bad idea to piss off bloggers who have a loud voice on the internet.

If you’re any bit like me, you don’t spend nearly enough time surfing the internets for amazing phenomena. Luckily we have amongst our staff one Daniel Taylor who illuminates us with his findings. From a blog of his last week I was introduced to both Encyclopedia Dramatica and omnomnomnom.com, both treasure troves of near-brilliance. Surfing the former today I was able to (inadvertently) catch up with all the memes and flash-in-the-pan ephemeral goodness that I had not been paying attention to, including Winnebago Man and Leroy Jenkins. It’s all contained in this handy song:
But none of what I found was as good as what my friend told me about last weekend. The Passion of Benny Hill. Internets.
Word of mouth - the true equalizer.

To the dismay of web nerds and all those hopelessly bound to their laptops, tv-links.co.uk was shut down last Friday. The site, which hosted links to hundreds of television shows and movies was loved by many, and is survived by a whole bunch more pirate sites that are way harder to find.

And I was half-way through Rome Season 2. Crap..
