Happy Birthday to playwright/screenwriter David Mamet, who turned 60 today. Mamet is probably best known for his 1984 play, Glengary Glen Ross, a scathing tale about salesmen that was turned into a movie starring Jack Lemon and Alec Baldwin in 1992 (Mamet also adapted the screenplay). Mamet is still productive, however, and his latest play, November, is set to open at the Ethel Barrymore Theater in New York City on Jan. 17th, 2008. The play stars Nathan Lane as President Charles H.P. Smith and Laurie Metcalf as his speech writer Clarice Bernstein. The play is a contemporary comedy that follows Smith, an incumbent president, closing in on Election Day. Mamet, certainly no stranger to political satire (he co-wrote the screenplay for Wag the Dog), says that the November is inspired by the tradition of the US president pardoning a turkey on Thanksgiving. Alec Baldwin pwn3d his daughter Ireland in a voice mail message recently released to the media by Baldwin’s ex-wife and Ireland’s mother, Kim Basinger.

After Ireland failed to answer her father’s scheduled phone call from New York on April 11, Alec went berserk on her voice mail, saying “Once again, I have made an ass of myself trying to get to a phone,” adding, “you have insulted me for the last time.”
Switching his train of thought, Baldwin then exercised his incredible parenting skills and took a shot at his ex-wife, declaring, “I don’t give a damn that you’re 12-years-old or 11-years-old, or a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn’t care about what you do.” The irate Baldwin went on to say, “You’ve made me feel like s**t” and threatened to “straighten your ass out.”
“This crap you pull on me with this goddamn phone situation that you would never dream of doing to your mother,” screamed Baldwin, “and you do it to me constantly over and over again.”
Before hanging up, Baldwin warned the child, “You better be ready Friday the 20th to meet with me.”

Bitch better learn. Alec Baldwin does NOT give a fuck. Recognize. Hopefully she made it through the day without getting her fucking ass handed to her.
