In the increasingly likely event that the Democratic nomination still isn’t decided by August’s Democratic Convention, one Florida Congressman, Rep. Mark Tomasik says that Al Gore could be the X-factor needed to sway the votes needed for the nomination:

“If (the nomination process) goes into the convention, don’t be surprised if someone different is at the top of the ticket,” Mahoney said.

A compromise candidate could be someone such as former vice president Al Gore, Mahoney said last week during a meeting with this news organization’s editorial board. If either Clinton or Obama suggested to a deadlocked convention a ticket of Gore-Clinton or Gore-Obama, the Democratic Party would accept it, Mahoney said.

Talk about a convenient truth for old Al, letting Clinton and Obama wear their asses out on the campaign trail, then coming in at the last second to pwn the nomination, and serve John McCain some green defeat. Shit would be epic.

  • Keith Richards And Louis Vuitton

What does Keith Richards have to do with Louis Vuitton? The legendary Rolling Stones guitarist will be the new face for Louis Vuitton’s ads. For the first campaign, he’ll be seen cradling his guitar on a hotel bed, lights partly obscured by skull print curtains. (see below)
“Some journeys cannot be put into words. New York. 3 am. Blues in C,” runs the slogal of the ad, shot by US photographer Annie Leibovitz and due to appear in the magazine press next month.

Whatever Richards is making from the ad, he’s donating to the Climate Project, Al Gore’s project that is backed also by Louis Vuitton.

Synthesis photographer Hali McGrath made the long haul out to East Rutherford, NJ, for the last show of the 24-hour Live Earth concert series. Held on 7.7.07 in cities across the globe, Live Earth sought to raise awareness about the dangers of climate change. It also managed to bring together a lot of great acts. Here are just a sampling of Hali’s photos. Shots of Akon, Alicia Keys, Zach Braff, Smashing Pumpkins, John Mayer, The Police, Al Gore and Cameron Diaz after the jump. Look for more photos soon in an upcoming issue of Synthesis Digital. (more…)

  • Al Gore’s Really Incovenient Truth

    algore.jpg

    Al Gore, the creationist.

The slide I found particularly interesting/shocking/sad, was his new(?) slide containing a graph of human population growth over the past couple hundred-thousand years. It started off good. He pointed at the beginning of the graph, showing the population of humans on Earth from 200,000 years ago, and referred to the “rise of humans.” Cool beans. So he believes that Homo sapiens evolved from other hominid ancestors, right? Nope. In the very same breath, he then continued to explain that according to his religious beliefs, this “rise of humans” was God’s creation of mankind - apparently 200,000 years ago. His graph then changed to include the caption “Adam & Eve” above this starting point.
