Just in case the I’m Voting Republican video didn’t convince you, here’s some straight talk on the issues voters REALLY care about.

I was lurking at Hawthorne Heights Myspace page today and I noticed that the big promo pic at the top was shot right here in good ol’ Chico, in Upper Bidwell Park, known around here as simply Upper Park. It seems like the last year or so Upper Park has been in more many emo band pics as Paul Frank. First there’s the cover of the new Saves The Day record, Under The Boards, which makes sense since STD frontman Chris Conley has been known to lurk around these parts:
Then there’s also the video for Number One Gun’s “Wake Me Up,” which makes a lot of sense, since Number One Gun aka Jeff Schneeweis live right here in Chico. In fact, if you look hard enough at that Hawthorne pic you can see a couple pieces of that door that Jeff smashes at around the 3:12 mark in the video, still kicking it on the hillside thar. Wake Me Up, moar liek PICK IT UP AMIRITE?? KEEP BIDWELL PARK BEYOUTEEFUL!!!1
UPDATE: It turns out that the backdrop in the above Hawthorne pic is actually the cover art for their new CD, Fragile Futures.

Classic Nick Cave from 1994. Creepy Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Our love-lines grew hopelessly tangled, and the bells from the chapel went jingle-jangle…

But if you do, at least they’ll dance around in your blood and fuck with your corpse for awhile. At least that’s what seems to be the theme of their new video for “Inside the Fire” which opens with a suicide prevention PSA by frontman David Draiman, but then moves directly to a scene of some broad hanging herself, complete with sound effects. He then takes a minute to kick it with the corpse for awhile, while the rest of his band dances around in the blood, before Draiman himself gives becoming an hero a good college try, being saved at the last second by magically transporting himself into a looney bin. Kind of a fucked up concept but at they’re trying, I guess. I interviewed the band a few years ago and when guitarist Dan Donegan mentioned that the band was seeing “four and five-year old kids singing the lyrics to their songs at the shows” I asked him if he was ever worried that some of their subject matter, such as a video with people killing themselves, might be a little bit much for fans of that age to comprehend and he, needless to say, a little nonchalant:
“Like I said, everybody may have a different point of view, they may get the wrong message. We can’t really do anything about that”
Ha! And our parents thought it was bad when we listened to too much Dr. Dre and started calling each other “niggas” and our classmates “bitches.” Let’s see how kids raised on a steady diet of Disturbed end up during their teen years.

News media has been invited to view footage that purportedly shows a four-foot tall alien tomorrow in Denver, Colorado by a man named Jeff Peckman, who is also looking to set up a local Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission to prepare Denver for what forthcoming alien contact:
An instructor at the Colorado Film School in Denver scrutinized the video "very carefully" and determined it was authentic, Peckman said.
Peckman, 54, said the video was among the reasons he was "compelled" to launch the proposed ballot initiative, which has generated news as far as South Africa.
"It shows an extraterrestrial’s head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that’s visible through an infrared camera," he said. The alien is about 4 feet tall and can be seen blinking, Peckman said earlier this month.
In a statement, Peckman said "other related credible evidence" proving aliens exist will be shown at Friday’s news conference, too.
Hmmm. Remember the last time this happened?
