I’m really rooting for Consequence this year. Back when he was rippin with Tribe on Beats, Rhymes and Life I always liked dudes style; he didn’t have the cleanest delivery but it just sounded good. He disappeared for more than minute, but made a comeback on Kanye’s debut College Dropout. Kanye later signed Con to his G.O.O.D Music label, and is gearing up to drop the long over due Don’t Quit Your Day Job. Below you’ll find streams for the video “Callin’ Me”. It’s an interesting look for the first single, it definitely has mass appeal to it (got my girlfriends approval, which says a lot cause she’s a just radiohead) but still has that underground feel to it.

This last Monday I went down to LA for Warner Brothers 2007 Innagural Ball, which more or less was a showcase of their urban roster. It was my first big ‘industry’ party, so the whole thing was a new to me, but after going through the motions from the Red Carpet to the press room, I can honestly say you “journalist” are wack as fuck!!! With the exception of two (Mixrevolution.com, and some dude in his late 40’s) most of these cats running around with mics had no idea what was up. If you have to have a tip sheet with all the information about an artist, you probably shouldn’t be there. On top of that, everyone asks the same fucking questions, all general with no real thought: when does your album come out, who did you work with, what do you bring, etc. Important info nontheless, but really, didn’t you just get your answer the interview before? Couldn’t you do some research and find that answer on the net, or even, the tip sheet? Now I know why rappers get beat on interviews, you cupcakes ask un-intelligent questions and really have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s not talking shit if it’s the truth.
Video coming soon with live footage of E-40, Mike Jones & Lil Scrappy, so keep an eye out. Oh yeah, also video of DJ Quik, who informed us that he has dropped the DJ from his name. Just Quik. Remember that!

I usually don’t mess with young R&B cats, but this one is too good to ignore. For the original version of his current hit “You” Lloyd featured Lil Wayne, but for the remix he came back with guest spots by Andre 3000 and Nas. It’s still a little soft batch for my taste, but it’s worth checking out.

Nine-year-old not only steals cars to escape town he hates but also bypasses security to board a Texas-bound plane
THE WASHINGTON POST
January 21, 2007
SEATTLE - At 80 pounds and 4 feet, 9 inches tall, Semaj Booker has established himself as a regional heavyweight in the pre-adolescent sport of sneaking out of the house.
He could be the most persistent, most creative and most publicized 9-year-old runaway in the history of the Pacific Northwest. As his mother says, he really hates it here.
Semaj can drive a stolen car 90 mph while leading a police chase, as he demonstrated last Sunday. The chase ended only after he blew the engine before slowly bumping into a tree with a 1986 Acura swiped from a neighbor who had left it unlocked and running. The boy then refused to get out.
Police had to break a car window to take him back to his mothers apartment in Lakewood, a gritty working-class suburb near Tacoma. This was his third stolen car in the past month, according to his mother, who said he learned how to drive playing video games.
The morning after the car crash, Semaj came up with a new scheme - one that would transport him to Texas free, get him on cable news and prompt a congressman to ask how a kid could slip through airport security.
Early Monday, the boy managed to sneak out of his house and travel about 50 miles to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Police speculate he hitched a ride or stole another car.
His mother, Sakinah Booker, who is single and has three other boys, reported him missing. She told reporters that Semaj loathes Washington state, has tried to run away nine times since moving there less than a year ago and is “seeking a strong male figure” back in his former home state of Texas. His grandfather lives in Dallas.
At Sea-Tac airport, Semaj conned Southwest Airlines and the Transportation Security Administration into allowing him to board a flight to San Antonio via Phoenix.
That security failure has annoyed Rep. Norm Dicks D-Wash., in whose district Semaj reluctantly lives. Dicks ordered his staff to find out how Semaj talked his way through Sea-Tac. This is what they learned, spokesman George Behan said: “The kid comes up to the first level of security at the airport, where an airport employee checks ID and his boarding pass. The kid says I lost my boarding pass. The airline employee takes him to a Southwest Airline ticket agent and the kid comes up with the name of a passenger on a flight to San Antonio.”
Semaj had found a loophole. Federal law does not require children under 16 to have identification when boarding a plane, so he did not have to produce any ID other than a boarding pass when going through security.
The airline gave him the boarding pass, it said, after he “presented himself as a 12-year-old to our ticket counter saying that his mother was already in the boarding area.” The airline and federal officials do not yet know how Semaj managed to find the name of an actual passenger.
In Texas, Semaj ran out of loopholes. Changing planes in San Antonio for Dallas, he could not produce information that matched a reservation. Southwest Airlines said the boy could not name an adult who knew he was supposed to be onboard. Police soon found his name on a missing persons database.
Semaj, who was still held by authorities in Texas at weeks end, has been charged in Lakewood with two felonies connected to the high-speed chase. But the local prosecutor has decided not to issue a warrant for his arrest or seek extradition. “As long as we know he is in a safe place, we can work on the criminal charges later,” Lakewood police Lt. David B. Guttu said.
