  • Songs for Obama: BarackRock.org

My first post-barista job was as a telemarketer raising funds for Bill Clinton, the California Democratic Party, United Farm Workers and the like during the 1996 Presidential Campaign. Yeah, sounds like a good cause, but I later found out the people I was working for were not on the up and up. Ever since then I’ve been reluctant to give political organizations any of my damn money.

Still, presidencies are on not won on the strength of the figureheads, but by money and PR. I want Nader to fuck right off and the McCain/What’sHerName ballot to sink like cement shoes because Obama still hasn’t sold off ALL his ideals and might make a better president than the others. With that in mind, I’m far more likely to write a song and donate it to BarackRock.org.

    From the Web site:

BarackRock.org started with one song and a desire for change.
It has grown into a movement of musicians and artists creating an ever-expanding catalogue of free, exclusive songs, each with its own individual art, meant to inspire participation and donations for the Obama Campaign. These are unreleased tracks and demos, only available here and now, so plug in your headphones and make a difference!

Listen to songs, donate money, etc. etc. Change, etc. etc.

  • For Relaxing Times, Make It Suntory Time

Got in the mail today, a delightful package from the equally delightful people at Tullamore Dew, makers of one of the finer Irish Whiskeys around and one of the top shelf favorites over at Duffy’s (so you know it’s legit). Alongside a couple samplers of the Dew, and a few other spirits distributed by parent company Skyy Spirits LLC (as in the vodka), was perhaps one of my new favorite libations: the 18-year Suntory single-malt “Yamakazi.” Having had the pleasure of sampling a variety of quality aged whiskeys (as well as more than a few shitty, young whiskeys) I have to say, that Bill Murray was right, man. For relaxing times, you really should make it Suntory Time.

Now please excuse me while I responsibly enjoy my treasure chest of executive booze. I’m looking forward to trying the new Tullamore Dew 10-year Old coming this winter, information on which you can find after the fold…after all, there’s no such thing as “free booze”: More after the jump »

  • Dolphin’s are Cooler than You

Even if you are capable of these feats with smoke rings, Dolphin’s still win. Their capacity as a species must be advancing concurrent to human’s capacity evolving back into neanderthal.

  • How to Win at Life: 2008 Election Edition

Sarah Palin is a Cunt shirt, courtesy of Crucialbrutal.com. Judge me. I already got flipped off by some mouthbreathing idiot in an official City of Chico truck, which means I’m obviously doing something right.

    “What It Takes” by Supersuckers

In the mp3 posted above, I’m not sure what Mr. Eddie Spaghetti is getting at. It’s either about being a man, or masturbation, or maybe both. Either way, it’s what it takes, and it moderately rocks. Supersuckers are celebrating their 20th birthday this year, and have a new album, Get it Together, out on November 25th
