Snake Eating its Tail

bs
In publicity stunt vs. publicity stunt news, uninspiring LA alt-rock band the Exies are taking a stand against Paris Hilton. They’re sick of her bullshit publicity stunts, and in an effort to send her to jail for driving on a suspended license (suspended for a DUI, how uber radical!), they are holding…a bullshit publicity stunt: They want you to sign a petition to counteract the petition that Paris is sponsoring to keep her scrawny, ugly ass out of jail.

In reality, the Exies are just taking a page from Ms. Hilton’s book and jumping on the Paris publicity bandwagon. It makes me want to gouge out the eyes of every E channel-watching preteen mother and hot topic fucktard hair-poser.

This just in: I’m fucked. I just wrote about this bullshit, ultimately feeding into everyth9ing abou the media that I hate. FUCK! They got me.

…gouging out my own eyes…press release after the jump.

  • The End is Near… Kinda

    LOST!

ABC has announced that their mind-numbingly addictive night-time drama LOST has only 48 episodes left.

The announcement, first reported last week by E! Online columnists Kristin Veitch and Marc Malkin, comes after executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof publicly called for the network to set an end date for the show—not only to assuage viewer fears that the series, which began to shed viewers in its new time slot this year, was not simply treading water to bulk up its episode count, but to allow writers the ability to plot out the remainder of the series according to the creators’ original plan.

But instead of two more seasons, which would equate to a usual 24-episode cycle, the series will be spread out of over three 16-episode seasons–a sort of compromise between a network trying to squeeze every last dollar out of popular prime-time hit and creators who are looking to preserve their artistic vision.

This third season got off to a bit of a bumpy start. There was that ridiculously long layoff, a lot of wheel spinning, a time-slot change and not a lot of answers, but the last six or so episodes have been top notch, especially those written by Cuse and Lindelof. I’m pretty stoked to hear there’s some end in sight, though it means I’ll have to find another way to spend my Wednesday nights in a few short years. Check out the rest of the story here.

  • Dead Like Me Movie a Go

    medium_wallpaper3.jpg

Dead Like Me was an awesome show with great characters and funny/melancholy stories. It was about a group of grim reapers who met at a waffle house and took the souls of people who were about to die. It lasted two seasons on Showtime and like all shows that are a bit quirky (this one was a lot quirky) garnered a cult following–which means just about no one watched it. But the people who did thought it was pretty nifty (myself included). Now it looks like they’re going to turn it into a straight-to-DVD film that no one will see. Rock on.

  • HUMAN GIANT…On Some

    evil

The new forthcoming MTV show, Human Giant, is looking like it might be pretty decent. It’s got a few pretty funny dudes at the helm: Aziz Ansari fucked up Pitchfork and music publicists something fierce as Clell Tickle; we interviewed Ron Huebel in Synthesis Issue #9 for a piece on the Mortified show at the UCB theater (and as a side note he was super cool, and his voice mail states he shares the line with Phil Collins, so please be specific as to who you want to leave a message for); as well as fellow funny ass Upright Citizens Paul Scheer and Jason Woliner, who I’m sure have done other radical stuff that I can’t think of…

Anyway, click on the link below to watch one of their skits. Gob from Arrested Development would be scratching his chin stubble and muttering about the sword of destiny over this one:
