Hip-hop producer and all-around thuggish asshole Suge Knight was recently knocked out at a Hollywood nightclub. According to reports, Knight started an altercation with another patron about money (surprise, surprise) and was thusly cold cocked and knocked unconscious for three minutes. Members of his entourage intervened to save the day eventually, but Knight looks like shit in the above photo.
Maybe he’ll simmer down a little bit now, but something tells me that the term “187″ is going to come back into popular parlance in a few weeks time. Watch yo back, fool.

I recently got turned on to The Devil Makes Three. They are a trio of guitarist Pete Bernhard (frontman), stand-up bassist Lucia Turino and guitarist Cooper McBean. They don’t have a drummer and have some pretty eclectic sounds that mix styles of rockabilly, folk, ragtime and country. Lucky for you they’re on tour right now. Check out their Myspace for all the dates & see if they’re coming to a city near you!
Listen to P. Brown give the best interview of his life (so he claimed) with The Devil Makes Three on SynthesisRadio.net here.

Here’s a great song and bizarre video from the under appreciated cult alt-indie band, Chavez. “Break Up Your Band,”circa ‘95.

For some reason, Dashboard Confessional have decided to post the majority of their back catalog for streaming on their Myspace. This includes my two personal favorites, the So Impossible EP and the Summer’s Kiss EP. Today I’m going to pretend like it’s 2002, when I had a mini-disc (yeah, that’s how long ago this was) with the first two Dashboard records, the two aforementioned EPs, and the Further Seems Forever record that Chris Carraba sang on all back to back to back, that I used to torture my coworkers to no end. Today is officially Dashboard Confessional day in the Synthesis office. BE PREPARED!!!11

Perennial American indie/folk-ers the Silver Jews will mark June 17th with the release of their sixth full-length record, Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea. David Berman is up to his usual tricks, spurting imaginative poetry that wraps beauty and sorrow around the everyday doldrums (”Suffering Jukebox”) , waxing whimsical fantasies (”Candy Jail”), as well as spinning good and long yarns (”San Francisco B.C.”). Berman’s wife Cassie is featured prominently on Lookout…, lending an undeniable female warmth to the feel of the record. The Joos are even touring for the occasion, with a current stint in Europe.
