I guess I should take back what I said about skateboarding…but I won’t. Still, you can’t go wrong with music by Beck, and these guys can actually land a move.

Richard Linklater’s latest film, Fast Food Nation, will be in theaters Nov. 17th. You can check out the trailer here. The movie is a dramatization of the book of the same name by Eric Schlosser, which simultaneously repulsed me and made me want to run out and get a Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

  • Michel Gondry is Really French

    photo_16.jpg
Director Michel Gondry talks about his new film, The Science of Sleep, starring Gael Garcia Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries), in this interview. If you want people to think you’re cool, you should probably pony up the money for a ticket, or at least lie about having seen it. Check out the trailer for some pointers. The film is open in select cities (you know, the cool ones) across the US and Canada.

  • THE SWORD New Video ‘FREYA’

The question: will hipster stoner metal take off into the mainstream by year’s end? This was my February 2006 prediction. Synthesis pretty much thinks the Sword owns, but is the world ready for another New Age of American Metal? Only time will tell. But one thing is perfectly clear — if this picture is an idication of what their new video’s all about, I’m going to have to start playing Dungeons & Dragons again..

“THE SWORD has completed work on the second music video from their critically acclaimed album Age of Winters. The video, for the hard-hitting track “Freya” was shot in Hollywood, CA with Director Barnaby Roper.”

  • NBC's The Office, which recently released their second season on DVD has certainly been the stepping stone to raise Steve Carell's profile.

    Now:

(I think the publicists at Special Opps Media would be stoked if I put a link to buy The Office Season Two Here)

Carell is also starring with Jim Carey in the digitally-animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who

However, his new project, Evan Almighty, the sequel to Bruce Almighty is causing studio execs more ulcers than usual…

    Budget Overruns of Biblical Proportions
Universal tries to tame spending that may make ‘Evan Almighty’ the costliest comedy ever.
By Lorenza Muñoz, Times Staff Writer
    October 9, 2006

“In Universal Pictures’ upcoming “Evan Almighty,” comedian Steve Carell plays a Noah-like congressman commanded by God to hoard hundreds of animals in an ark the size of a cruise ship.

In real life, the movie is taking on water. Studio executives are struggling to tame a soaring budget that will probably make the film the most expensive comedy ever.
Unexpected costs for visual effects and the logistical challenges of filming hundreds of live animals have turned what was supposed to be a $140-million movie into a $160-million one that could climb as high as $175 million by the time it\’s finished. With marketing expenditures, the film is expected to cost at least $250 million……”
