Jimi Hendrix’s famous stage act of dousing his guitar with lighter fluid and burning it on stage are some of the most memorable moments in music history. One of his favorite guitars, a 1965 Fender Strat, set on fire in London more than 40 years ago is going to be up for auction in September by the Fame Bureau in London.

The guitar was said to be lost forever after the London performance at Finsbury Astoria in March of 1967. After Hendrix lit the guitar at this show he had to be rushed to the hospital for burns. The guitar is partly damaged on the neck and the pickboard but was recovered. A man, Tony Garland, had the guitar stored in his parents’ garage and his nephew found it last year.

It has an estimated worth of $1 million. Jim Morrison’s, Doors frontman, last poem book will also be auctioned. If you have a pile of money laying around that would be some amazing memorabilia to have!

    Kevin Powell Running For Congress

Kevin Powell is a former cast member from the first season of MTV’s The Real World. Now he’s running for Congress in the 10th district (Brooklyn) of New York. I don’t think being on The Real World is any sort of credential but he does have a BA in Political Science. At least he was on the show before it went completely downhill and turned to crap.

He is up against Ed Towns, a 13-year incumbent, so we probably won’t see him in office anytime soon. Powell thinks “civic engagement should be a part of our values as much as MTV and Xbox.” He is trying to get more young people involved and what better way than making a tape of his speeches mixed with music from Tupac, 50 Cent and Kanye West?

It’s been a tough morning for me ever since Howard Stern announced Playboy Playmate Shawn Carla Hektor as Miss Howard TV August 2008. Oh! The trials that have come to pass since then.

I’ve had to search for pictures of her ALL MORNING. Let me tell you - it’s tough to find a shot without her boobs exposed. Today’s gonna be just ruined for me! Gha!

Google trends.  What woudl I do without you?

  • In just two short days, David Banner will be performing at Knitting Factory in NYC on Friday, July 18th at 8:30 PM for one of those special MySpace Release Shows you’ve always wanted to go to. His new album, modestly-titled “The Greatest Story Ever Told”, was released yesterday. From the press release:

Putting Jackson, Mississippi, on the map, David Banner is more than simply a musical artist and actor. Having spent his days since Hurricane Katrina helping out in philanthropic efforts to rebuild the region, David Banner is now ready to properly follow up his widely-received 2005 album “Certified” with a set of fiery tracks synonymous with his name. Featuring guest shots from the likes of Lil Wayne, Akon, Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg and Chamillionaire, “The Greatest Story Ever Told” is a piece of social commentary expressing Banner’s passionate viewpoints, his recent experiences, and the type of heartache he’s endured over the past few years.

Maino will be opening. Early wristband pick-up for the performance will begin at 7 p.m. on July 17 on a first come, first served basis. And now, for some fun facts about David Banner:
    Real name: Levell Crump
    Age: 35
He’s pretty much done everything from acting to music production to rapping to modeling and owning a record label. Much of his recent time has been donated to the region affected by Hurricane Katrina. He takes his stage name “David Banner” from the lead character in the 70’s and 80’s cartoon “The Incredible Hulk”.

In further efforts to keep shut-ins completely mired and satiated, Xbox has announced a partnership with Netflix to stream movies right into your television. Now you won’t even have to go to you mailbox. Hell, stay in your room FOREVER.

As soon as Xbox starts shipping feeding tubes, MREs and catheters, the world’s biggest winners will never have to get out of bed.

    Associated Press Reports:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Microsoft’s Xbox 360 video game console will be able to stream thousands of movies over the Internet, thanks to a deal with Netflix.

The arrangement Microsoft Corp. announced Monday at the E3 Media & Business Summit in Los Angeles will give Netflix’s 8 million subscribers another way to stream movies on a TV instead of a computer. A Netflix-backed startup called Roku already sells a small streaming device that connects to TVs.

The Netflix streaming service — which operates in addition to its DVD-by-mail program — offers 10,000 movies and TV shows. Microsoft’s Xbox had movies available before, but not nearly as many. This expansion is key in helping Microsoft compete with Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 3, because gaming consoles are becoming entertainment hubs with movies, videos and music.
