Hiero Jeans

The Bay Area’s own Hieroglyphics are known as being underground hip-hop legends but are now being recognized for more than just their music: fashion. Hieroglyphics designer, Casual, has had positive responses from consumers on the high quality designer jeans for men. All jean styles are limited edition vintage washes. Some styles include organic jeans and black jean material for more formal events. I especially like the personalized touches - which include lyrics printed on the inside of the jeans and their “face” logo engraved on the button closures. Also available are destroyed vintage t-shirts, long and short sleeved. Boys, make sure you get a proper fit before you hit the town. The ladies will appreciate your style. Who would’ve thought Hiero would be recognized in the fashion world? Here is the cream of the crop.

This is way more entertaining than wasting $9 to see Shia LaBeouf on the big screen. I never realized the abilities of Legos.

Project Compassion

Project Compassion is a non-profit that is creating portraits of every American serviceman or servicewaman killed while in active service since September 11th, 2001. It sounds like Project Compassion might be on the level.

The American Legion Auxiliary, the largest patriotic women’s service organization in the world with over 900,000 members, noted in awarding Project Compassion its 2007 Public Service Award: “Project Compassion struck a chord with us: healing through art… [and] the understanding and knowledge that the arts in any form, have a curative value. Art can heal the soul and the mind. Project Compassion is helping our military families cope with a tragic loss [and] …the wounds of their service to our nation.” Every one of the thousands of calls, letters, cards, and emails which have poured into Project Compassion from around the world confirm the need for Project Compassion, a need we ourselves never imagined was so profound until we simply began sending portraits to soldiers’ families, one at a time. Project Compassion is our privilege, the privilege of knowing we have actually made a difference in the lives of military families for generations to come.

Of course, the Department of Defense and US Armed Forces may be official partners in the non-profit business, they aren’t the ones funding this (and paying the artists). Maybe Blackwater should chip in a few hundred thousand (pocket change to them). The tragedy that the families of fallen soldiers must endure is unthinkable. Still, I wonder that since neither Afghanistan or Iraq had any involvement with the bombing of the World Trade Center and Pentagon that Project Compassion’s stipulations are a bit too narrow. Oh well, perhaps if the government were actually funding this, all the fallen soldiers might get a portrait.

Until then, I’ll just follow the government’s free advice; duct tape and plastic sheets, duck and cover.

  • MS Paint Porn

While doing research for my last post (and, for the record, typing “jail rape” into a Google Image search counts as research here at Synthesis blog…hey, I just set precedent!!!), I happened to stumble on the best Web site on the internet.

MS Paint Porn (www.mspaintporn.net/) is just as its name implies: crudely rendered pornographic scenes drawn in MS Paint. Its categories run the expected (hardcore, softcore, oral, etc) to the more extreme (BSDM, anal, incest, etc.) to the TOTALLY AWESOME (Robot, Alien, Metaphysical, Pirate, etc.).

  • SPRFKR on Vimby

One of Synthesis’ all-time favorite artists, Marcos aka SPRFKR, was recently interviewed on Vimby. I have never met Marcos, but I did speak with him on the phone once or twice. It was cool putting a face to the voice finally. However crude you think his art is, the dude is one solid nice guy. I even have a shirt with one of his original sketches on it. It’s seriously in my top 3 favorite shirts. Just watching this vid makes me want to go home, get comfy in the hammock and draw some hot naked chicks.

  • Amy Smart, Corey Haim, DJ Paul of 3-6 Mafia

What do those three have in common? Good will! This Friday (the 16th at 5pm!), a celeb-autographed teak wood table will go up on Ebay to the highest bidder. 100% of the money will be donated to Goodwill Industries International, North America’s leading nonprofit provider of education, training, and career services for people with disadvantages.

Most recently, Cisco Brothers sponsored the star-studded eco-lounge for Green Means Go!: “Solutions For Greener Living” where dozens of like—minded retailers and luxury service providers gathered to engage with environmentally conscious celebrities.

More than 20 actors, models, musicians, and members of royalty attended the Green Means Go! event and signed the Cisco Brothers Teak table including: Amy Smart; Corey Haim; Noah Zehetner (NBC’s “Heroes”); the Oscar and Grammy Award-winning recording Artist, DJ Paul of three 6 mafia, Alli Sims, Drew Seely (High School Musical) and many, many more.
