On June 1st, Artist in Residence released In a Frozen Sea: A Year With Sigur Ros, a publication that follows the band through the last leg of their Takk tour through their native Iceland. In addition to featuring beautiful photos of the band in action — playing shows in the modern capital city of Reykjavik as well as the rustic Icelandic countryside — the book also contains photographic proof of the existence of elves.

Pretty groundbreaking. Check out the press release after the jump.

This classic sculpture where Diomedes gives Hercules a hand job while he’s being body-slammed was created by Vincenzo de’ Rossi in 1550. Rossi wanted to demonstrate that just because you’re a rich fucking bastard who drinks whiskey and reads books and wears glasses doesn’t mean you can’t spice up your life with a homo erotic table piece. This is just one of less kitschy items that enjoy being sold by Design Toscano, where you can find just about the most awful home decor you’ll ever see.

No flute here, just a Tricycle, a car battery, an inverter, an amp and some speakers. Graffiti Research Lab mobs through Manhatten and eventually over the bridge into Brooklyn. Compare reactions of the people in Manhattan with the ones in Brooklyn.

One day, I’d really like to make my way down to the desert for the Coachella Festival, but I have crippling fears of blazing heat and camping. This year, I missed out on Bjork and Rage Against the Machine and about a bazillion other bands I’d love to see. Luckily, our photographer Hali McGrath (who in addition to being a remarkable live music photographer is also an awesome person) is a lot more rock ‘n’ roll than I am and was there to rub my face in what I missed out on by way of some great pictures of the event. So now I’m rubbing your face in it. Because misery loves company. Check out issue 7 of Synthesis Digital which will feature a five-page spread of live shots. A bunch of pics after the jump.
