“We kill them with carbon dioxide gas, stockpile them in a big freezer and then put them through a liquid fertilizer process” that renders the toads nontoxic, Sawyer said.

“It turns out to be sensational fertilizer,” he added.

British researchers have found that, far from being a sign of delinquency and poor academic ability, many adolescent “metalheads” are extremely bright and often use the music to help them deal with the stresses and strains of being gifted social outsiders.

“There is a perception of gifted and talented students as being into classical music and spending a lot of time reading. I think that is an inaccurate stereotype. There is literature that links heavy metal to poor academic performance and delinquency but we found a group that contradicts that. We are looking at a group with lower than average self-esteem that does not feel quite as well adjusted. They feel more stressed out and turn to heavy metal as a way of relieving that stress.”

  • The Return of Number One Gun…Kind Of

One of our favorite bands ever, Number One Gun, is making a comeback of sorts. The band is currently in the studio working on a new record for Tooth and Nail, which is of course super awesome news. But it’s a little more complicated than that Frontman/guitarist/bassist/drummer/producer/scooter jumper Jeff Schneeweis explains the sitch and previews what sounds like a pretty dope track from the record in a suprisingly candid YouTube video.

So I was looking up my friend’s band Surrogate, when I stumbled onto the Wikipedia site for Sex Surrogates, which included a link to this disabled dude’s first-person tale of seeing a sex surrogate. It’s actually quite riveting, but sadly, even though dude finally is able to lose his virginity, there’s not much of a happy ending:

“I began this essay in 1986, then set it aside until last year. In re-reading what I originally wrote, and my old journal entries from the time, I’ve been struck by how optimistic I was, imagining that my experience with Cheryl had changed my life. But my life hasn’t changed. I continue to be isolated, partly because of my polio, which forces me to spend five or six days a week in an iron lung, and partly because of my personality. I am low-key, withdrawn, and cerebral.”

    Damn
