The Indie Rock Coloring Book
By Yellow Bird Project
Chronicle
Somebody get Aye Jay Moreno on the horn, because the Yellow Bird Project just stole his cash cow. The Indie Rock Coloring Book, akin to Moreno’s Gangsta Rap, Heavy Metal and Punk Rock works, is 31 pages of hipster kiddy goodness, with illustrations by Andy J. Miller and a foreword from Pierre de Reeder of Rilo Kiley. The artwork itself taps into a vein of Schoolhouse Rock and Arnold Skolnick’s famed work for Woodstock. From The National and Bon Iver to Andrew Bird and The Dears, a broad scope of indie-pop is covered herein, and Miller’s cartoony artistry shines through with particular sweetness in representations of Elvis Perkins and The Tallest Man on Earth. All proceeds go to YBP’s non-profit charity efforts.
