   Help Sarah Palin and Senator Ted Steven support a Bridge to Somewhere!
   Kind of, but not really. But this a fun idea and, of course, not original to us.
   Thanks to Senator Ted Stevens and the nomination of Sarah Palin for Vice President, we’ve all heard of Alaska’s “Bridge to Nowhere”. We’ve heard of the mega line-item pork that provides for sometimes crazy projects to take place. But instead of us complaining about how horrible they are, let’s all make a donation to something that reminds us (and them) of the importance of supporting projects that make sense and should receive funding. I propose we help fund a “Bridge to Somewhere”. But not just any bridge. This bridge actually makes sense. It is a pedestrian bridge in Moscow, Idaho. In a time with rising fuel prices and increased consciousness about the environment, not to mention the negative impact of vehicles to neighborhoods, the time is right to build a bridge like this.
   This pedestrian bridge has been approved by the Moscow City Council and the Mayor. However, the city does not have the funds for this bridge. They paid for soil testing at the site and everything is good to go except for the funds to build the bridge. This pedestrian bridge will make it possible for pedestrians, bicyclists, and the disabled to cross a creek and connect them to neighborhoods via the flattest route in town. Third Street Pedestrian Bridge Project, Inc. has been able to raise about $7,000 this year but much more is needed!
   Here is the good part: The Third Street Pedestrian Bridge Project, Inc. asks that you make donations in the name of Sarah Palin and Ted Stevens. For each donation of $5 or more we receive, we will send a Thank You note to them for their donation to the “Bridge to Somewhere”. Of course, if you would rather the donation be in your name, a family members’, or in memory of someone, we will send you/them a thank you note as well. Our goal is to send out 20,000 Thank You notes. Please help us by donating now and passing this email on to all of your friends.
   This is a brilliant idea for $5, $10, $20 or more!
