One thing’s for sure, Angel Pantoja Medina, the 24-year-old Puerto Rican man whose last wish was to be stood up for the entirety of his own wake, bring’s a whole new meaning to the term “gangsta lean”:

Dressed in a Yankees baseball cap and sunglasses, Pantoja was mourned by relatives while propped upright in his mother’s living room.

His brother Carlos told the El Nuevo Dia newspaper the victim had long said he wanted to be upright for his own wake: “He wanted to be happy, standing.”

The owner of the Marin Funeral Home, Damaris Marin, told The Associated Press the mother asked him to fulfill her dead son’s last wish.

Pantoja was found dead Friday underneath a bridge in San Juan and buried Monday. Police are investigating.

I think that was real IGNORANT for you to post something like that about somebody’s Loved one…it’s ok for you to voice your opinion but come on now have some HEART…and did you fail to realize that this Mother was respecting her son’s dying wish…one more thing…who are you to state the opinion that someone is going to HELL if they don’t know JESUS…cause JESUS u are NOT….and you have to do more than just know JESUS for the record…so mayb u should let people know if u see 24yr old Angel when u get to HELL…since you know everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need a translater for all of these comments posted. For the record, there is no law as to how a person should be waked. If there is, then please someone show it to me. If that was his wish then so be it.

Would it had have made it better for you all if the body was lying down? What’s the difference a dead human body is a dead human body. There is a respect that should be given to the dead, but by his mother giving him his last request is in no way shape or form sickening. The only thing sick about this whole thing is people passing judgment on this man and his family. Mind your own!
