As reported a long time ago, Dr. Pepper issued a slap in the face statement to Axl Rose stating that if Chinese Democracy was released by the end of 2008, they would give everyone in America a free Dr. Pepper. At the time, it seemed like a brilliant win win situation: they get product awareness for free (this album has been in the works for like 13 fucking years… cummon!) and they got to spit in Axl’s face. WELLLLL, it turns out Guns n Roses set Nov. 23rd as the album’s release date. Whoops.
Standing true to their word, Dr. Pepper is actually going through with the ordeal. Come the day of the album’s release, if you visit Dr. Pepper.com you can sign up for a coupon for a free 20 oz soda. I’m pretty shocked that their actually going through with this, considering if this news gets out pretty fast (the company is not promoting the deal) they could be in for a large hit in profits.
