Rapper M.I.A. Making Big Bucks

British and Sri Lankan lady rapper M.I.A. (Maya Arulpragasam) is makin’ money. Besides her recent engagement to Warner Music Group (WMG) big-wig Edgar Bronfman’s son, rocker Benjamin Brewer, she is getting paid by some notorious sponsors. M.I.A. collected $100k for performing at an MTV Movie Awards after-party and she only had to be on stage for half an hour! The party was in West Hollywood and sponsored by Converse One Star and Target.
After performing, M.I.A. jumped on top of a photo booth and told the audience how much money she’d be making. She is very politically active and told the crowd she would use the money to build schools in Liberia. She said it cost $52,000 to build a school meant for 1,000 kids. A rapper using her insane paychecks to do good, who would’ve thought?

Dear Niki,
It would seem that you have a serious lapse in your education if you could believe Maya is a terrorist. How can an eight year old child be a terrorist, when they barely know they are in the world. That would be the same as someone saying that since your house caught fire when you were eight years old, that you are now an arsonist! It’s just stupid, right?
Ignorance is a terrible thing, but it isn’t necessarily permanent. You can do something about it…I would suggest reading something from a perspective different than yours, being humane in your outlook on people and their experiences, but at the top of the list I would suggest that you try to stop being stupid and insert a bit of humanity into your consciousness.
You know people such as yourself can call this wonderful contributing artist a terrorist because her lyrics exposes the extremes of poverty and wealth in the world, the political shenanigans of many of the countries of the world to silence dissent and the resultant terror visited upon the innocent for struggling to save their homes, their countries or even to simply have enough food and water.
The Ku Klux Klan-a terrorist organization in the US, was responsible for thousands of deaths of black, brown and white people, burned towns, raped women, killed unborn babies, scorched fields, hung people, chased, tortured and killed innocent people for no other reason than the color of their skin or because they held a different, perhaps humane outlook for US society, oh, like access to economic, social and political opportunity.
And, isn’t it curious that someone of your mindset would never call them terrorists. This group operated within the US with the complete knowledge and sanction of the US government through several presidential administrations, republican and democrat.
I am not sure how you view your fellow human but I would venture to say it isn’t a very good view.
Hopefully, people like yourself will join the rest of humanity and stop holding the rest of the human species back so we may truly separate from the animal kingdom (no insult to animals).
