CSS Do It Donkey Style

css_donkey.jpg

I’m not exactly sure what Donkey Style is, but I’ve got a few guesses. Maybe the Brazilian kids in Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS) can help clue me in. The follow up to their 2006 self-titled release will be called Donkey and is set to hit stores July 21st.

     pig.jpg

The organizers of Coachella are offering a $10,000 reward and four lifetime passes to Coachella to anyone who knows where Roger Waters’ giant inflatable pig, released during his set Sunday, fucked off to:

Did a school bus-sized inflatable pig land on your backyard? Did you happen to pick up a giant pink pig with graffiti? Coachella organizers are offering $10,000 and four lifetime passes to anyone who returns their pig. The pig balloon was released during Roger Water’s performance on Sunday at the Coachella festival. The pig was covered with graffiti from famous street artist, Slick. The graffiti had slogans that read: “Don’t be led to the slaughter,” “No Blood for Oil”, and even included Obama’s name with check box next to it. To collect the bounty, please contact lostpig@coachella.com.

  • Bun B Defines “Trill”

I love Bun B. I think he should have his own reality show and maybe live next door to the Kardashians. Here, in an AOL commissioned vid, he schools you on “trill”. Put that on mamas!

    Interview with Cory Mo…

    souljaboy.jpg

Centennial High School in Portland, OR has decided that kids shaving lines in their eyebrows a la Soulja Boy is SERIOUS FUCKING BUSINESS. Any student caught with thusly groomed eyebrows is being sent home until they shave off their eyebrows completely:

Centennial administrators are telling students with the lines that they can’t return to school until they shave their eyebrows off. Assistant Principal Mark Porterfield said the students are not suspended, but they are not allowed in school until they cooperate.

Andy Gonzalez, a junior at Centennial with one vertical line shaved down his brow, was studying for a test when a security guard approached him and said, “If you’re going to come to school like that, don’t come at all.” Gonzalez, 17, says he isn’t in a gang and shaved the lines to look cool and impress girls. But he says he’d be humiliated if he had to shave his brows off.

  • Why Do Ghosts Wear Clothes?

    jim_morrison_ghost.jpg

One of the most glaring flaws in the argument in favor of the existence of spirits, ghosts, etc, is that in the majority of sightings of full body apparition-type ghosts, the ghosts are wearing clothes. If ghosts are indeed the energy of soul of departed humans, why wouldn’t they just be naked? About.com’s Stephen Wagner posed this question to a few paranormal researcher, and got some pretty good, if somewhat vague, answers:

This could be a totally unconscious effect of the energy on the living person, or it could be a manipulation on the part of the spirit itself, perhaps causing the person to see what it wants them to. To understand this, I suggest that you close your eyes for a moment and then visualize yourself in your mind. How do you appear to yourself? Most likely, you were wearing clothing in your imagination. With the idea that a ghost appears looking in the same way that he sees himself, this might explain why so many ghosts that are seen are not only wearing clothing

Hmmm. And if you’re wondering, the picture above is apparently the ghost of Jim Morrison, taken at his grave in the Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.

  • El Prezidino
I got my momma playin very hard / I’m flirtin’ with sin but I’m married to god…”

When you flip through my CD books you’ll find a lot of indie rock and metal, but not too much hip-hop. It’s not that I don’t have an appreciation for the music, it’s just I hate the braggadocio aesthetic that sets the tone for the majority of hip-hop artists of the last few years.
You also won’t find much in terms of Christian music in my collection…my people get blamed for the crucifixion and I hate getting preached at by the misguided and unlearned. So it might strike some as strange that for today’s Synthesis Artist You’ve Never Heard Of Artist Of The Day, I’ve chosen Virginia Beach Christian rap artist El Prezidino.

    Prez

I like El Prezbecause he’s working through his issues of spirituality and faith in a way that isn’t preaching as much as telling - his missteps handled with the same thoughtfulness as his strides along a righteous path. There’s a bit of bragging in there, but it’s more focused on his wealth of character, not wealth of material goods. And when he does rap about money, it’s almost more as a self-criticism, in that he should be paying more attention to God and self. I can get behind that, you know. Plus, his beats SLUMP. Check out his music on his Space, and you can find his EP The Warning here.
