We here at the world renown Synthesis Blog are happy to announce the premeire of Tim Fite’s “Rats & Rags” video from his forthcoming album Fair Ain’t Fair, available in stores on 5.06.08 on Anti- Records. If this teaser is any indication, Fair Ain’t Fair will be Fite’s most accomplished album yet.

I gotta be honest: first time I heard Tim Fite a few years back, I was not impressed. However, judging by this clip, I am going to rock Tim Fite’s new one hard, toss it around like a ragdoll. We suggest you do the same. Plus, I’m feeling a little inspired. My roommate tends to sleep heavily when he’s been drinking….I wonder what he’ll think when he wakes up tomorrow saran-wrapped to his bed.

I am mature.

  • For the first time in Britain two blind patients have been implanted with bionic eyes. The procedure was preformed at Moorfields Eye Hospital in central London last week and the two patients are said to be “doing well.”

In the latest episode of Video Matt’s long-running YouTube saga Paramore Being Crazy, he catches up with the band at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sacramento and proves once again, that despite selling 28473739475 records, Paramore are still some fun-loving kids. Also worth checking out is the footage of the band’s set later that night at the Hard Rock, videos of which can be found on our YouTube channel. To give you another taste, here’s the band doing “That’s What You Get.” Watch that shit and help Video Matt achieve his lifelong goal of being the biggest thing to hit YouTube since the “Let’s Get Some Shoes” song.

  • Flying Priest Missing
In an attempt to break a world record for most hours flying using party balloons, a Brazilian Roman catholic Priest, suspended by 1,000 helium balloons, is now missing. His aim was to raise money to build a rest-stop church for truckers.

Even on my best day I couldn’t make this shit up.

Wacky news story of the day or sign of the impending apocalypse? Either way, this is why I listen to the BBC in the morning:

“Father Adelir de Carli lifted off from the port city of Paranagua on Sunday, equipped with a parachute, thermal suit, satellite phone and a GPS device.

A sea and air rescue operation is under way after he lost contact with port authority officials late on Sunday.

He wanted to break a 19-hour record for the most hours flying with balloons.

Father Carli was hoping to raise money to fund a rest stop for lorry drivers in Paranagua, one of Brazil’s major ports for agricultural products.”

Yeah, I don’t think I have anything else to add. Complete lyrics to Jimmy Webb’s “Up, Up and Away” and a full wikipedia synopsis of The Flying Nun after the jump. (more…)

    Locher’s New Spring Collection

My favorite saucy shirt company Lochers just announced their Spring 2008 collection. New naughty phrases and cutesy floral designs nestled on the corners of soft, pastel shirts with flattering necklines and girlish kimono sleeves. Everything is $87, a little steep, but really now, aren’t you worth it?

It’s been 13 years coming, but Connor Oberst will finally be releasing another solo album. The Bright Eyes front man teamed up with long time friend/engineer Andy LeMaster in Tepoztlán, Morelos, México (a mysterious city known for Aztec Magic among other strange phenomenons) to record the self-titled release, set to hit stores August 5th 2008, according to Merge Records
