Following last Wednesday’s excellent KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic session, Brooklyn hepcats Grizzly Bear will be featured on tonight’s Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson. They will be performing “Knife” from their latest Warp Records release Yellow House. Sometimes I forget how much I like this band’s plaintive beauty. It helps to remind myself by visitn’ their space. Yeah, thats the ticket.
The band will also be working with legendary musician Paul Simon, who is basically the Shins of your parents’ generation and wrote the songs that they conceived you to. From the press release:
For the week of April 23 –27, the band will team up with legendary songwriter Paul Simon for a three part series called Love in Hard Times: The Music of Paul Simon at BAM in Brooklyn, NY. The three programs include Songs from The Capeman, Under African Skies, and American Tunes. Grizzly Bear will perform as part of American Tunes, the segment inspired by “quiet railway stations, urban sounds, and immigrant dreams covering a wide range of songs” from Simon’s career. The songwriter personally selected the quartet after attending its groundbreaking performance at Wordless Music Series In New York this past November 2007, which was voted #1 show of the year at Stereogum.
