the behaviour displayed is indicative of a clinical concern;undergrads on youtube describe away the soldier’s behaviour as symptomatic of war;maybe but this is par for the course in relation to what soldiers become and moreover what their daily mindset is.killing a puppy indicates a low threshold of concern for the right for a living thing to survive. The way the animal was killed reveals a creative form of killing and thus pertains not just to the soldier but to all those in the army.kindly note that the video was not meant to be seen worldwide and thus may be more of an embarrassment to the armed forces than really an act which signals the need for psychological intervention.this is what soldiers do,in this case it was done to an animal.it is inhumane and sadly acts like this are perhaps daily occurences.

With 100% respect for our Marines, I can understand that dogs need to be killed or risk giving away your position in times of battle. I have seen it happen, and human lives lost when a dog perked up and ran over to our platoon. Then the bullets came flying……

However, the whimsical manner and callousness in which this deed is carried out is not acceptable. There is a degree of honor and class when it comes to actions on the battlefield, and this is certainly not representative of the many Marines who came before this young man. Even his reaction at the end of the video, the shoulder shrug, suggests that even he doesn’t know why he just threw that puppy. A puppy would not be a threat to a platoon in my opinion, and this act seemed a total act of boredom and lack of judgement for the camera.

If the camera hadn’t been there, or there were not friends to impress, the dog would not have been tossed off of the cliff.

Do I feel that a dog’s life is worth more than a humans? Sadly, no, I would not sacrifice a human for a dog. But this was a situation where a sacrifice of life was not necessary. It was murder for fun, and that is unacceptable. I am truly happy that David was released from the Marines. The honor of the Marines cannot include this madness in their ranks.

Everyone posting bad things about this fellow marine are horrible them selves.
If anyone has any experience in Iraq it would be well known to all of you that they are required to kill any animals they see beacuse of illness and disease.
He was only doing his job so please everyone get a fucking life you are not the ones dieing in Iraq.

So many of these comments only go to show that those individuals at home sitting behind their computers are capable of doing as much damage as he is, if not more?
The people who wish to react with violence to violence are the ones responsible for damage in society. They are the ones that condone violence in the first place get rid of them and violence will halt.

For those that say its only a dog, it is more than that. this act is symbolises exactly what a soldier should not stand for. War and death is believed necessary in order to bring long term benefit, it is engaged because there are logical, rational, social and economic reasons. This has no reason, no moral, no benefit. This soldier is an example of why americans hold an unfortunate reputation and should be the reason why wars should not be started if you are ill prepared.
Bush doesnt know why he went to war and obviously neither does this guy.
