Presidents Of The United States Of America: Old Dogs, Same Tricks

POTSUSA has a new album. Yes. Yes they do. These are the same Presidents that brought us “Lump” and “Peaches” over a decade ago. These Are The Good Times People will be their first release since 2004’s Love Everybody, and let me tell you, it’s no damn good. Now I’m not trying to be an asshole, because I’ve got as much of a soft spot for the Presidents as anybody. I even liked a couple tracks off of their second album, II, like “Mach 5.” But Good Times… is anything but. “Truckstop Butterfly,” tries really hard to rekindle the story telling happiness of days past, but winds up being a tired and painstaking effort. You can say the same for “Ladybug,” “French Girl”; basically the entire album. I’d say it’s time for these old chaps to move on.
