If you’re going to WonderCon this weekend in San Francisco (I’ll be there tomorrow), keep your eyes open for a Hellboy II: The Golden Army preview comic. The 16-page book features a story written by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, and a five-page preview is currently available online. The comic features three covers — one for each of the main characters (Hellboy, Liz and Abe) — and will be available at special events and conventions until the film opens on July 11th. The Liz cover will be available this weekend in San Francisco. An official press release and images of the three covers after the jump.

HELLBOY: THE GOLDEN ARMY

AVAILABLE AT WONDERCON, SAN FRANCISCO, FEBRUARY 22-24, 2008

WHAT: HELLBOY: THE GOLDEN ARMY is a 16-page comic that details the rise of The Golden Army— the indestructible force that Hellboy and his team in the BPRD fight in Universal Pictures’ upcoming action-thriller Hellboy II: The Golden Army, in theaters July 11th. Written by Mike Mignola, from a story by Hellboy II director Guillermo del Toro, the prequel comic features three different collectable covers (Hellboy, Abe and Liz), and will be distributed at conventions and events leading up to the film’s release.

WHERE: The HELLBOY: THE GOLDEN ARMY comic will make its debut at WonderCon at the Moscone Center in San Franciscoon February 22-24.
A limited number of copies featuring the “Liz” cover will be available.

WHEN: Fans may stop by Dark Horse booth #726 to pick up a copy.
Hellboy creator Mike Mignola will be signing at the booth on the following dates and times:

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22ND: 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The three collectable covers will make their appearance at various conventions leading up to the film’s release. Check out the Dark Horse booth at your local convention to pick up a copy.
