VIGILANTISM. What a divisive concept. On the surface it seems like a just and righteous cause - righting wrongs where the powers that be do nothing. But it’s also a scary concept. That gang of torch-wielding villagers is powerful in their chaos, and once feeding into their own frenzy they cannot be stopped. Sure he looked scary and gross on the outside, but did Frankenstein’s monster really have it coming?

Regardless of whether you believe Scientology is a CULT or a legitimate RELIGION, whether it should be left alone to its own devices or kicked on its shellback, belly up for the feasting, is good for debate. However, while I personally believe that the Church of Scientology is a scam (…if anyone tells you they have THE ANSWER they are JUST TRYING TO SELL YOU SOMETHING, you silly-ass MARK. And the same can be said of organized Christianity, but that’s a debate for another day…) and the original concept of Anonymous’ war on CoS has merit, Anonymous’ attack on the Church of Scientology is, sadly, doomed to fail. The Church will not be brought down, its members will not be enlightened to the hierarchal brain-washing and its more nefarious designs, and a Utopian future where the everyman has power over the corporate superstructure will not come to be. Sorry brah.
This is what I believe will happen before Anonymous topples the Church of Scientology.
I call it the Schrodinger’s lolCat complex: No one likes a Clever Dick. This is especially true for an elite group of Clever Dicks that think they are more clever than every other Dick. Once an original idea enters the mainstream of popular internet culture, the group who originated it (such as those who frequent sites like 4chan) is quick to abandon their memes, in-jokes and conquests for lulz.
For instance, the fact that I used the term “lulz” means it’s already on the way out, soon to be replaced with a new portmanteau or new term altogether. Or another good example: lolcats. According to ED, the original creators coined the term Caturday, which took off in the Clever Dick society, eventually filtering down to the pop culture as lolcats. Now that your 44-year-old aunt in Wisconsin has seen and chortled at a lolcat, it’s fair to say the joke is over. The originators are over it, and a bit bitter about it too.
I imagine this same scenario playing out with Anonymous’ war on Scientology. It’s a funny, great and arguably just idea; one that will (and already has) spread into the pop culture with mercurial speed. And while its main proponents are still the revolutionary-minded counter-terrorist vigilante types, as the message spreads and more and more people get involved, the message and spirit will get diluted until the Anonymous originators see a diminishing return of lulz and tire of the war. At which point, drained of creativity, the war will grow to stalemate and sooner than later, the phenomenon will dissipate, relegated to the tomes of memes that are “so 1,000 years ago.” Once you put Schrodinger’s cat in that steel box it’s already as good as dead. By examining something you fundamentally change it, and although a cat is fine too, nobody even gives two shits about Schrodinger’s lolCat anymore.
On to the next silly internet thing. Here’s to progress. Thanks for the corruptions, Anonymous.

If people think anonymous are doing this against scientology for the public good, then think again. Anonymous have attacked innocent people and other groups in the past and they are not doing this for any good, they do this for fun or as anonymous would call it (to use their jargon) “lulz”. Most who make up anonymous come from websites like 4chan and 711chan.
I’ve been threatened by some members who claimed would revel my private information and use it against me. I wonder after scientology who their next target will be?
First of all, Anonymous would like to remind you that we are NOT attacking the BELIEFS of Scientology. We are not saying their beliefs are evil or somehow wrong. In fact, we could care less what you believe. God is a very personal thing, and we know better than to tell people our version of “the truth”.
Neither are we attacking the FREEDOM OF SPEECH of Scientologists. Any Scientologist is welcome to share his or her views, just as anyone else is. I understand how taking down an organization’s website could be misconstrued as an attack on CoS’s freedom of speech, but this is simply not the case.
The truth is that your rights (including your right to freedom of speech, thought, and religion) END at the moment when they infringe upon someone else’s rights. Scientology has a history of a “fair game” policy, attacking anyone who does not agree with them in various ways with their vast resources. They have forced abortions on their members above their private navy, SeaOrg. They have even been responsible for the death of at least one confirmed member (google Lisa McPherson) through their irresponsible practice of therapy. They have numerous human rights abuses on their record. For more information, I direct you to http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/. If you think that website is biased, keep searching. Everywhere (except sites maintained by Scientologists) there is well-documented evidence of the crimes of CoS.
Ask yourself, what kind of religion forces you to PAY for a truth they claim will make your life happier, better, richer? What kind of religion then uses that money to enact lawsuits against detractors and give commissions to their higher-ups? The answer is, religion doesn’t do that. Beliefs don’t do that. Beliefs in the hands of evil, greedy people do that. Scientology is more corporation than religion. There is absolutely no reason for them to be tax exempt. Do they worship any type of deity, as most religions do, or are they just hawking bad medicine to the vulnerable?
These are questions that must be answered. Scientology must not continue its abuse of human rights. If it continues, the war will never end until the organization is gone. Allowing them freedom to continue their money-grubbing pyramid scheme because “they have freedom of speech” is equivalent to allowing skinheads to beat up blacks just because “that’s their personal belief”.
“The truth is that your rights (including your right to freedom of speech, thought, and religion) END at the moment when they infringe upon someone else’s rights.”
To the previous anonymous commenter: How does that justification apply to Anonymous’ ruination of Julie Fischer?
http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/GoddessMine
While I find Goddessmine’s former online dominatrix business repugnant, her customers consented to her abuse, under no obligation to continue. Does she not deserve the same rights Anonymous is purportedly fighting for?
I distrust anyone who is trying to save us from ourselves.
Spencer shows all the typical signs of a Scientology Disinformationist. Keep a close eye on him.
How to be a disinformationist:
1) Do not answer or acknowledge any questions that are revealing embarrassing or harmful truths about your organization.
2) Change the subject immediately to something else.
3) Pull “magically relevant” facts out of nowhere, about something that has nothing to do with the subject at hand.
4) Use Ad Hominem to attack the SP (Supressive Person, basically a declared “enemy” of the Co$) and his or her character, rather than the merit of his argument.
The case you exhibited in your post has nothing to do with the subject at hand, we are not discussing past raids by the many different people who call themselves “Anonymous.” We are discussing the real reasons and motives behind taking down a corrupt and straight-out EVIL organization that is taking advantage of people’s faith to protect themselves from the law, while using their own followers’ faith to drain them of money and resources, and drive off anyone who criticizes them.
Spencer, if you are not going to address the discussion at hand, there is nothing for you to say. Your reproachable tactics of disinformation and Ad Hominem will not work anymore.
Nice analogy with Schroedinger’s cat, but I think despite the inevitable mutation of memes the basic emotions behind them will remain unchanged and this is why I went to Ladbrokes yesterday and put my money on Project Chanology!
Anonymous is doing it for the lulz, stop taking shit so seriously.
Scientology is doing so much efforts and spending so much money to avoid being disclosed for what it is that it’s noàt a problem for me if some people try to silence it as well; but in fact, I’m really not certain that anonymous are not the scientologists themselves. INdeed, they havec big profit to divert attention from the many many crimes commited by the cult and the large attention to their cult these last weeks. First, Cruise’s bio is not that flattering for the cult. Second, Cruise’s video about the cult members power is ridiculing both the cult and him. Third, the “church” had a very stupid reaction about that. Fourth, we learned that three french scientologists had been arrested in Sardinia and jailed for sequestration of a fourth, and then, the very well known french scientologist brother of the sequestrated woman was alos arrested when he came back to try to handle authorities in Sardinia. So many bad bad PR flaps at a time could very well ask something like the DDOS attack to divert attention from the other annoying points.
I don’t care what they’re doing it for, I’m serious about this, my money is on the line. If these guys don’t show up in Melbourne on 10 Feb to commemorate Lisa McPherson’s d.o.b. I’m stuffed! I need to win this bet, I have enough debt as it is already. Hell, I might even think about showing up myself.
Very possibly a dis-information campaign by the writer.
If it is not, then the author of this piece could not be MORE mistaken.
Anon is not some cult of cool.
Anon is not to be admired.
Anon is.
And lolcats, are, and always shall be, righteous good simply because they are.
Good day to you good Sir, good day I say.

This thread is now about Scientology plants and disinformation campaigns in the media.
Also trucks of fail.
jsmith sure has a bone to pick with these guys. He’s posted his FUD, almost exactly word for word each time, in every article I’ve read about the campaign.
I’ve been following this story out of interest, the way they’ve come together to plan out hundresd of protests all over the US, with thousand registered to attend, in such a short amount of time is mindblowing.
This is a war that has been in the making since the early 90s when Scientology vs. The Internet happened.. Only now people are fighting back.. Scientology will never stop being a target for anonymous. Scientology will continue infringing on free speech and censoring the internet. The lulz will always be there..
It might interest you there’s another Anonymous video up on YouTube. It seems they might have made their first misstep.
Here’s the vid:

I fear that this “war against the CoS” is near an end. Every time an “Anon” posts, the goal has changed. There is no definite plan on how to disseminate the CoS. Also, all rebuttals from Anon have started on topic, then when it is time to give meaning to short snippets and phrases about restriction of freedom of speech, they delve into other aspects of the CoS’s crimes against humanity. Also, since all of CoS’s information is trademarked up the wazoo, almost any website with “evidence” of their crimes can be picked apart and proven to be baloney. Look at the http://www.lisamcpherson.org website. Look closely at the pictures. Strange that the font on the tags are always in focus, and several images are dated, while some are obviously from a digital camera.
It is in my opinion that without clear leadership and a plan to expose the CoS’s crimes against humanity, the fight is useless.
I’m not a proponent for Anonymous or CoS, as both are less than legitimate “organizations”.
Bob Marley, can I ask where you are on the Bridge to Total Freedom® ?
You’re absolutely right. Anon will lose interest and stop their seige on Co$.
… Hey guys, we still raiding Tom Green tonight? Oh sweet, that means I’ll have a solid hour beforehand to call GameStop and ask for Battletoads. Afterwards can we raid Habbo?
—
Fault 1: You are comparing the life of a meme to the life of a raid.
There’s a reason why Anon does not forgive, does not forget. The attacks might not compare to the intial first blow, but trust me, something like this will drag on forever and give the newfags something to cut their teeth on. Hell, there might even be a revival at one point. If you want an idea on what you’re in for, go to your local GameStop. Ask for Battle Toads.
In a vacuum what you say might be the trend. But a new player is in the game.
Swarm Theory has been let loose.
