Morcheeba, less interesting
Back in the late ’90s, at the beginnings of a stunning college radio career*, my shows consisted mainly of a weird mix of ’60s underground, sludge metal, Fugazi and trip-hop. One of my playlist mainstays was Morcheeba. My interest in Morcheeba, and trip-hop in general, came to a resolution shortly before original Morcheeba vocalist Skye was dismissed from the group. Apparently, she got out just in time. While Big Calm and Who Can You Trust? still get their occasional play on my home stereo, Morcheeba’s more recent stuff has been a bit of a letdown. What I’ve heard from their new album Dive Deep, set for a Feb 19th US release on Ultra Records, Morcheeba has become almost less exciting than Moby: that is, music for couples in their mid-40s to bump uglies and fail to achieve orgasms to.

Skye: best voice in trip-hop
Skye, on the other hand, still has some promise. Her 2006 solo album, Mind How You Go, was way more to my liking. Her follow-up is supposedly due out some time this year. In the meantime, please remind yourself who has the sexiest voice in trip-hop by clicking right here.

*Spencer was fired from his college radio station for being awesome in a variety of innovative ways.
