Yesterday our fabled US women’s soccer team (ranked first in the world cup standings) took on Brazil, going for their 52nd win in a row in the semi-finals. Getting all cocky over those horrible commercials I keep seeing, US coach Greg Ryan pulled goalie Hope Solo (no relation to Han), who has had 300+ minutes of action without letting a single goal past her. The result? A crushing 4-0 game in favor of Brazil.

I don’t want to get in on a huge rant, but her name is HOPE SOLO. Come on dude!

The opening score came on an own-goal in the 20th minute, when American defender Leslie Osborne headed a corner behind Scurry. Lucky or not, the Brazilians were off and running and proved to be better in every facet: clever triangulated passes, counterattacks, audacious moves and blistering shots.
