There’s all sorts of stuff that I like about Pink Nasty, like her name, her songs, the fact that she got back to me on MySpace about booking a show, that she features some decent guests on her second and latest album Mold The Gold, and that she covers Usher:covers Usher…but most importantly, she has something which has become a rarity in songwriting: totally rad lyrics.
Rad lyric example:
“We can go to Starbucks and talk a lot of shit about people we don’t know now that probably live in New York.” (from “I Don’t Know”)
Rad duet lyric example:
“This feels like love on crack… / please don’t wear any makeup, and please baby won’t you shut the fuck up.” (from “Don’t Ever Change”)
Sara Beck’s addition to the lexicon of alt-county will one day prove invaluable, and I hope she gives Chico hometown heroes Mother Hips a good solid run for their money when they play with her.
Too bad about her video, though.
